20.01.2022 Oh Dear - after telling the boss we had sold more than we had brought this week I come home from a Sunday drive with a Pajero packed to the brim with an interesting array of books - hopefully the staff can clear some stock at the shop this week.

20.01.2022 Another set of interesting books for the shelves - first 3 vols - 1901,1902 and 1903 takes the story to 1853. A lot of foxing, covers need repair, rough cut first edition pages. Mostly print on demand facsimile editions available.

18.01.2022 Starting to plan for the festivities

17.01.2022 Good condition childrens book - some skilful colouring - touching inscription from 1929.

17.01.2022 An interesting 1883 book that has a chapter on a visit to Tasmania starting with Launceston then heading to Hobart via Fingal, Falmouth - although the description of Launceston as being quite Italian may describe a certain style of the author.

17.01.2022 Latest additions to the stock

16.01.2022 Second-hand books are wild books, homeless books; they have come together in vast flocks of variegated feather, and have a charm which the domesticated volumes... of the library lack. Besides, in this random miscellaneous company we may rub against some complete stranger who will, with luck, turn into the best friend we have in the world. ~ Virginia Woolf See more

03.01.2022 Former students making the trip west

03.01.2022 Another beautiful book heading for the shelves of that little magical bookshop in Queenstown

03.01.2022 Another interesting book - alas only have Vol 2- that starts with a 45 page description of aboriginal life and customs from a very strong superiority of Europeans view and a number of negative references. Ends with a hope for assimilation over a couple of generations. Was also interesting to have comments on attempts to use aboriginals as farm labourers.

02.01.2022 2 more books to add to our extensive collection of ancient history books

02.01.2022 Another interesting book - 1928 4th impression - first printed 1910 - publishers Chatto and Windus, illuminated drawings by Alberto Sangordki, leaves uncut (and only printed on 1 side) French folding(?)

01.01.2022 Adding to the music section

01.01.2022 Material for a book? In a box of old books come across a roughly homebound book (missing title page and author name) - some hard to read annotations. A note left by a previous owner. A stamp of the Port Arthur Public Library (which Port Arthur?) a series of ads for publications released in 1846 at back of book. Book is an account of Madeira. Pages have feel of 19th century paper.
