25.01.2022 Our Industrial sewing team made 120 koala bags after a call out from #SouthernKoalaRescue, thanks to the generous donations from Barb BJ Wright Griffis, Alegayter SailsSails & Martin Blinds Indoor OutdoorIndoor Outdoor. After a bit of a break, due to C-19, we are now in the early stages of making shade sails for the koala enclosures being constructed below. 12.01.2022 If you did not manage to purchase any protective masks, I've found a couple of patterns, one you will need a sewing machine, the second, just needle & thread. They are not N95 or P2 standard, but better than no protection. Let the video run into the next one, for pattern just using needle & thread Happy sewing We've got this!!! Grant outcome was successful & Nicki from the #mountbarkercommunitycentre was able to secure enough funding to purchase a new sewing machine, overlocker & sewing equipment for our #boomerangbagsadelaidehills team How exciting! Still no word yet, for when we can start running our monthly sewing bees, but it wont be too much longer

On Tuesday i met amazing couple, Nerida & Vaughn owners of #MartinBlinds in Prospect SA, who geneously donated 31 metres of canvas, with a shipment in transit of 130 metres more of canvas, on its way from their suppliers in Melbourne to allow us to complete the100 koala bags needed for #SouthernKoalaRescue On Wednesday, Leonie from #LoveLeeFabric, dropped in with several more bolts of cotton fabric, generously donated by herself & her suppliers, fo...r our incredible team of sewing mistresses to make hanging joey bags for #NativeAnimalNetworkIncSa An hour later, our local sewing mechanic PJ #PeterNies, arrived with a fabulous Janome sewing machine to donate to @BoomerangBagsAdelaideHills. Rhonda, one our seamstress, was unable to sew, but brought in some gorgeous fabrics to use too 12 bags completed so far! 03.01.2022 Bought this Pfaff (made in West Germany) sewing machine today for $60, took her apart, cleaned & oiled, she purrs like a kitten, surprisingly fast & sews doubled up 9 oz canvas, perfect for upholstery fabric too

02.01.2022 Next project :) Anyone with experience in screen printing? I am going to need a bit of assistance - preferrably someone near me - Bugle Ranges & surrounds, should only take half a day. Looking at Tues 4th Feb to screen print labels :)

As you would all probably be aware, due social distancing guidelines, we will not be running monthly Sewing bees at the Mt B Community Centre until further notice However! Supermarkets are asking people to bring their own bags now! So, lets keep making bags to supply our essential service outlets, #Adelaidehillsfarmersmarket & #Mountbarkercommunitycentre If you are out on a shopping run, please drop off finished bags to the Mt ...Barker Community Centre & i will collect each Wed to sew labels on, before distribution.
