15.01.2022 UPDATE - SOLD OUT FREE NATIVE SEEDLING GIVEAWAYS ! I was pleased earlier this term to have been able to secure the support of fellow councillors to increase the...se giveaways by 2,000 each year. Maitland City Council’s Native Seedling Giveaway is back for 2021 and is being trialled for the first time in a click and collect format. Registrations are now open and will close when the allocation of seedling packs are exhausted. The process is easy. Choose a timeslot online that suits best, and turn up on the selected day to collect the seedling pack from Maitland Netball Clubhouse in Maitland Park. One hour timeslots are available from 8.00am to 9.00am each morning from Monday 22 March through to Wednesday 24 March, or two timeslots on Saturday 27 March between 8.00am and 10.30am. One pack of seedlings will be available per household and must be collected in the registered timeslot. The pack will contain a standard mix of six seedlings from an assortment of 28 native species, including Grevillea, Bottle Brush, Kangaroo Paw, Lomandra, Lilly Pilly and Hardenbergia. As always, a driver’s licence or rates notice will be required as proof of residence when collecting seedlings. Tenants should also check with their landlord whether they are permitted to plant seedlings in their yard. For more information or to claim your free native seedling pack, visit www.maitland.nsw.gov.au/events/native-seedling-giveaway

12.01.2022 NSW Labor deputy leader Yasmin Catley says a series of reforms introduced to the government's Energy Infrastructure Bill will guarantee local jobs. The amendme...nts passed the Lower House last night and will likely move to the Upper House tomorrow. It included making the Hunter-Central Coast a renewable energy zone. But the Swansea MP says they go a step further and will also ensure industry development and export opportunities. "Labor's series of amendments mandated local content requirements, compel local procurement and the expansion, education and training opportunities for apprentices and trainees," she said.
