08.01.2022 $65,000 FINANCIAL JOLT ALLOWS POWER UPGRADE AT BOOMI SPORTSGROUND Today I was pleased to announce a $65,144 ‘financial jolt’ for the Boomi Sportsground,... allowing the local management trust members to undertake urgent upgrades to the facility’s ageing electricity supply. The grant will replace the existing old copper line and inadequate transformer with a modern three-phase system. There is nothing more frustrating for an organising committee than the power going out half-way through a major event. Boomi Sportsground is a popular venue for car rallies, horse sports and public camping and as functions have increased over time so too has the demand on electricity infrastructure. The additional pressure often causes power to drop out, interrupting cooking and announcing and occasionally interfering with the electricity supply in town. While these improvements will mean less disruptions during major events they will also support the land managers’ goal of reducing the ground’s overhead costs by eventually installing solar panels. While at the sportsground, I was able to check out the now completed $150,000 multipurpose shed and kitchen, which was built as a result of a State Government grant in 2018. Well done to the Boomi Sportsground Trust members on securing the grant and all the work they’ve done to improve the facilities!
