24.01.2022 As you are probably aware, Scenic Rim Veterinary Service has purchased the vet clinic in town from Melanie, and have been operational since the 24th August. We offer a comprehensive service which includes an emergency after hours service for our clients both small and large. We are enjoying meeting new clients and their pets. For those that may not know, Dr Courtney Stevens moved over from Beaudesert two years ago with his family. Dr Courtney is very experienced in equine ...and bovine medicine and reproduction, and has been providing an ambulatory large animal service to the area equipped with a mobile xray, ultrasound and crush. He has met many lovely people and has a fantastic group of clients. You will still see Toni and Jos familiar faces in the clinic, but Dr Courtneys wife, Dr Katie Stevens, is our main small animal vet. She spent her first 4 years in rural mixed practice, and has since focused more on small animal medicine and surgery. Another Boonah local, Dr Verena Joyce, is joining us shortly and we feel she will be a wonderful addition to our team bringing with her years of experience and local knowledge. Our team will be complimented with back up from Beaudesert as needed. Being part of the Scenic Rim Vet Services team (with Beaudesert) is an amazing advantage which gives us the best of both worlds. It allows us as a smaller team living and working in the Boonah area to provide a committed personal service, but with the backing and support of a bigger clinic with excellent equipment and additional services if required. If you have any questions about us or the services that we provide please dont hesitate to give us a call or drop in. Our phone number remains unchanged, so call on 07 5463 1339

24.01.2022 Awesome Vet Nurse Wanted - BOONAH We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated veterinary nurse to join our new team at Scenic Rim Vets, Boonah. Having just started up in Boonah we would love to employ a local who is committed to providing excellent and caring service to our clients. First and foremost we are looking for a positive, enthusiastic employee who will be as excited as us to deal with the challenges of a rural veterinary practice. Ideally we would like to emp...loy a Certificate 4 qualified veterinary nurse or technician. That being said we are also aware that a piece of paper does not always equal the best team member and so are happy to consider applicants with solid experience in the field that show practical knowledge and skill with the right attitude. We would also prefer to fill the position with a full time employee but are aware that in this busy world job sharing can be an excellent alternative. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Duties involve supporting (and often organising) our vets in their day to day work. You will be regularly in charge of anaesthetic monitoring, medicating and caring for small animals in hospital, customer service, assisting with X-rays and procedures, preparing surgical kits and of course the obligatory cleaning. We think this position will be both challenging and varied and keep you on your toes! If this sounds like a job you are interested in please send your resume by email to - [email protected]

24.01.2022 We love meeting new puppies here at Boonah Veterinary Hospital. These are German Shepherd siblings "Mr Bruce Lee" and "Willow" with our new veterinary nurse, Emma. We are very happy to welcome Emma to our team. Also pictured is the beautiful "Jethro" with his colour co-ordinated toy. All these puppies have recently been in for their vaccinations and health checks.

24.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone! We know at least one person (dog) who can't wait until the end of homeschooling!

24.01.2022 ~ VACCINATING YOUR PETS DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON ~ With Christmas quickly approaching, families going away may want to put their pets into the kennels or take them with on holidays. Did you know your pets vaccinations have to be up to date, as well as being a C5 or F3. A C5 vaccine covers your dog for canine cough disease. Here at the clinic we offer all vaccinations to any animals great and small. We wish all of our clients and your furry friends a Merry Christmas!

24.01.2022 We hope that all of our clients received some of the much needed rainfall. Although with the goodness of the rain, Paralysis ticks are on the move. Paralysis ticks are nasty little critters that attach to your pets both great and small. We cannot stress enough, that pet owners should not be complacent about paralysis ticks as they can be fatal. There is prevention available for both cats and dogs! To find out about ways to protect your pet, give the clinic a call on (07) 5463 1339.

24.01.2022 The team at Boonah Veterinary Hospital would like to congratulate Nurse Crystal and her family on welcoming their bundle of joy, Archer Jon Oppermann into the world. We hope you enjoy this exciting time and send our best wishes to you and your family!! We cannot wait to meet him.

24.01.2022 Smelly breath, pawing at the face and reluctance to chew hard food or treats could all be signs of dental disease in your furry friend. Tooth loss and poor health can be the result so make sure your pets teeth are in a good state with a vet check.

23.01.2022 ~ SOMETHING TO BRIGHTEN OUR WEEK ~ Earlier this week we had these gorgeous puppies brought in for their first vaccination and microchip procedure. As you can see they were all very relaxed and we enjoyed having cuddles.

23.01.2022 We have seen a lot of puppies in the last few months!! It is great to see so many owners ensuring their new additions are protected with Vaccinations (Especially against the often fatal Parvovirus) and Parasite Peventatives. There is a lot of information for owners to take in at this first visit and we try not to be too distracted by their cuteness but puppy cuddles always brighten up our day!

23.01.2022 Look at this beautiful basket of Miniature Fox Terriers that came into the cinic for vaccinations and microchipping yesterday. Can you guess how many puppies there are?

21.01.2022 ~ MONDAYITIS ~ What have you and your pets been up to today?! Post pictures below

20.01.2022 With all of the public holidays coming up, if your pet requires prescription medication, please ensure you have a sufficient amount to get you through this time. If your pet does require any medications, please call in advance on (07) 5463 1339 to ensure supply.

20.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone! We know at least one person (dog) who cant wait until the end of homeschooling!

19.01.2022 These two little beauties are up to date with their vaccinations are your furry loved ones? There are so many changes to how businesses are able to operate at the moment. We would like our clients to rest assured that we are still offering our usual services albeit under different conditions. Puppy and Kitten vaccinations and annual booster vaccinations are VITAL for protecting our pets from many deadly and/or painful diseases like parvovirus and feline leukaemia virus. We have diagnosed some cases of such preventable diseases recently in our clinic please make sure your pets are protected! (like G1 and G2 are pictured with thier proud owner!!)

19.01.2022 This is Pixie who is a 14 year old Minature Collie. Last year her owner started giving Pixie 4cyte for her arthritis and the result was fabulous. Pixie became much more active and seemed to get a new lease on life. Most older dogs will have some degree of joint pain or stiffness which is due to arthritis. Here at Boonah Veterinary Hospital we can help with a number of options to reduce the effects of osteoarthritis in dogs.Dont let your four legged friend suffer from this disease this winter without the benefit of a good management plan.

19.01.2022 Pictured below is little Hughie! Hughie is a Belted Galloway calf that was hospitalised at the clinic last week due to Tick Paralysis. We are happy to announce that Hughie has made a recovery and is back at home now with his herd. Here at Boonah Veterinary Hospital, we dont only treat domestic animals at the clinic, we also treat livestock. (The first 2 pictures were when Hughie first came into the clinic. The second 2 pictures were taken the day that Hughie went home!)

19.01.2022 Today we were able to reunite a lost cat because it had a microchip & the owners details were up to date. If your dog or cat werent microchipped as kittens and puppies they can still be done as adults.Make sure your pets are microchipped so they are able to be returned to you if they become lost. These beautiful puppies were done as puppies.

17.01.2022 We have added JUMBO dental chews to our wide range of dog treats. Great for the ongoing management of dental health in our larger doggy friends. Stanley was keen to try them out!

17.01.2022 With the festive season finished, we are back to normal trading hours. We are also excited to be able to offer a mobile/home visit service for Boonah Surrounds. Small animal consultations and Vaccinations can be done at home by a Veterinarian and Nurse. No travel fees apply for appointments booked on a Wednesday. To book an appointment or for further questions, give the clinic a call on (07) 5463 1339.

16.01.2022 It was great to have a "social visit" from Huey this week. Huey spent some time with us last year when he succumbed to Tick Paralysis. He has certainly grown since then! Paralysis ticks can affect any species and are present throughout the year.

15.01.2022 WE ARE STILL OPEN: Things are changing fast in Australia. So here is what we are doing to protect you, your pets and ourselves in this ever-changing environment. We are OPEN however we have introduced a Restricted Access policy. This will allow us to continue to care for your beloved pet, while providing minimal human contact and hopefully ensure that we can remain open for you and your pets during this tough time. We truly appreciate booked appointments only, even if you h...ave an EMERGENCY please call ahead if possible. If you need an appointment, medications, pet food or advice please CALL US FIRST on 5463 1339. If you have an appointment; when you arrive please come to the front door or phone us but do not enter. When ready the veterinarian/nurse will come and speak to you about your pet. Please respect the 1.5m social distancing rules. The veterinarian/nurse will then take your pet to perform any necessary treatments or procedures while you wait. When finished, a nurse will bring your pet back out to you and discuss any issues or concerns. We continue to do on farm visits, however house calls may have restrictions. We are also able (with sufficient notice) to home deliver medications/foods/treatments if you are unable to come to the clinic. Please do not hesitate to call us and we will assist you. If you need food/medications/treatments (fleas, worming or treats!!) please phone the clinic BEFORE driving in. Where possible, please prepay for the items that you need over the phone. This will speed up the process when you come to collect. We will bring the items out to either your car or the front porch area. We are taking our personal hygiene very seriously. After each consultation all surfaces, doors, phones and eftpos terminals are thoroughly disinfected as well as our own hands. As Veterinarians we are very experienced in Infectious disease control and as a local small business we appreciate your co-operation and support. Thank You.

14.01.2022 The team at Boonah Veterinary Hospital, wish you and your furry friends a happy, relaxing, joyous and hopefully wet Christmas. We hope everyone stays safe over the holidays and into the New Year. Regards, Melanie, Colleen, Gemma, Tamika, Emily, Jo, Toni, Jeena & Crystal.

11.01.2022 Indie & Diesel are ready for this cold weather! Are your dogs.?Different colours and sizes available now.

10.01.2022 Check out this cute little possum who came in to be examined last week.We examine injured and sick wildlife as an initial assessment here at the clinic during opening hours whenever we are able. This allows a decision to then be made about what the next step in the care of the animal will be. Often animals will then go to a carer or to a more skilled and equipped wildlife centre for ongoing care.

10.01.2022 Social Distancing Pet Style! Tabitha & PC were innocently keeping their distance and showing us how its done long before we had heard the term. Be assured we have implemented changes at the clinic to keep our social distance for the safety of ourselves and our clients. At this critical time prevention is still much better than treatment, so it is important to ensure your pet has its Paralysis Tick, Flea and Heartworm preventatives and Vaccinations. We have supplies of th...ese products on our shelves, but we ask everyone to PLEASE CALL US prior to coming in to so you can take advantage of our minimal contact pick up service. We can also arrange home delivery locally if you are unable to come to the clinic yourself. We appreciate the co-operation everyone has shown so far this week and we remain committed to the wellbeing of you and your pet. See more

06.01.2022 Good luck Jeena! We recently farewelled Jeena, as she is continuing to pursue her veterinary nursing career at a new clinic. On her last day with us, Jeena was busy introducing Emilys baby Mackenzie to life in a veterinary clinic.

02.01.2022 Great news! We are adapting to the easing of restrictions and we can allow restricted client access to the building. With Government COVID 19 guidelines, one client will be allowed access to our reception area at a time as long as they do not have any respiratory symptoms and are not feeling unwell. One client per visit is allowed and we ask that you please respect this change and stand on the designated paw print markers we have provided. This allows for social distancing for the safety of our staff and you. We are happy to assist with purchases of stock, so we also ask that you limit touching stock unnecessarily. Thank you for your support and respect during this time. Please call in advance for appointments on 5463 1339.

02.01.2022 This is Kate. She is very cute and looks like butter wouldnt melt in her mouth. Kate has a dangerous habit though - she chews anything she can find. This includes bedding, thongs and toys (both hers and those that belong to the children that she lives with). This habit can cause many problems including illnesses and a blocked gut. Call the clinic to hear our advice on how to manage this life-threatening habit.
