25.01.2022 If you missed the Creek to Coast feature on Ivory's Rock Caravan and Camping last weekend, check it out now below! Bordering the Flinders-Goolman Conservation Estate Ipswich Section of the Boonah Ipswich Trail - BIT, Ivory's Rock hosts guided bushwalks with Horizon Guides around Ivory's Peak & Tooth. A great get-away idea for the family to consider for the upcoming School Holidays!

24.01.2022 Here, we have the irrepressible & awesome, Bruce of Ivory's Rock front & centre, along with Beck, (also of Ivory's Rock Foundation's Ivory's Rock Caravan and Camping), Dom Courtney & Dave Batt of Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation, Gavin Dale, John Marshall & Ron Farmer of Bushwalking Queensland Inc. / Bushwalking Australia Inc & Julie of boonah organisation for a sustainable shire - BOSS during a very productive Zoom meeting held yesterday to determine the next steps i...n advancing our concerted push to have the Boonah-Ipswich Trail completed & opened as one continuous recreation trail. We are working hard with identified stakeholders, such as Inland Rail, & will seek to meet with Local Government Council officers & SEQ Water representatives in the coming months. Renewed community consultation with adjacent landholders, particularly through the undeveloped mid-section, will need to be undertaken. As can be appreciated, COVID-19 means that a lot of our meetings need to be held virtually, nevertheless, our collective dream for the BIT to be the, "backbone", connecting Ipswich City to the Scenic Rim & with the potential to link in with the burgeoning Logan City Council Rail Trails in the east, & the Spicer's Scenic Rim Trail / the Main Range, & the Bicentennial National Trail in the west, the possibilities are endless. We need this Trail. Yesterday. So many recreation spots throughout Ipswich in particular (i.e. White Rock-Spring Mountain Conservation Estate) are being *loved* to death during this pandemic. People need to be provided with alternative recreation venues & sites. And to help be made aware of their existence. At present, the 19km Hardings Paddock Picnic Area - Flinders Plum Picnic Area of the BIT within Ipswich City Council & close to Ivory's Rock Caravan and Camping, is open & well used. The SEQ Water Wyaralong Dam BIT section of the Trail is open & connectivity is possible through to Lilybrook Station (managed by SEQ Water & great for camping) & Boonah Township. Then there is of course, the 6km unpaved Fassifern Rail Trail & the 600m-long paved Dugandan Pathway - both use the former Fassifern Railway Line through Boonah Township & on the outskirts of the Township to Dugandan (not far from the popular Dugandan Hotel!). Although these sections are not technically part of the BIT, they link up with it, achieving connectivity to as far as Mt French Road. We'll keep you updated in the coming months. Thanks for your support. #BoonahIpswichTrailProgressGroup

17.01.2022 Southeast Queensland's Scenic Rim has been named in Lonely Planet’s best travel destinations for 2022!

16.01.2022 Make sure you keep the 13th August 2022 free. What distance will you be racing - 105km, 65km, 35km or the 25km? https://www.ontheedgeevents.com.au/scenicrimultra.

15.01.2022 At this point, there are only two officially open sections of the Boonah Ipswich Trail - BIT to the public: 1) Flinders-Goolman Conservation Estate within the Ipswich City Council LGA - accessible via the Hardings Paddock Picnic Area, Carmichaels Rd (off Ipswich-Boonah Rd) in Goolman. It can also be accessed via Spowers Rd (via Wards Rd & Ripley Rd) in South Ripley. This section runs from Hardings Paddock to just south of the Flinders Plum Picnic Area. This... section is ~20kms long. Here is an Organised Grime map of this section: http://organisedgrime.com.au/GoolmanFlinders.pdf 2) Wyralong Dam Western Trail Head (Lilybrook Station) to Boonah Township within the Scenic Rim Regional Council LGA - accessible directly off Boonah-Beaudesert Rd via Ipswich-Boonah Rd, or the Mt Lindesay Hwy, in Coulson. This section runs from Lilybrook Station (the Western Trail Head of Seqwater's Mt Joyce Mountain Bike Park) to Boonah Township via SEQ Water's network of multiuse trails & quiet public back roads. This section of the BIT follows SEQ Water's Goan Hills Trails network & is signed. This section is ~20kms long. Here is an Organised Grime map of this section: http://organisedgrime.com.au/BoonahLilybrook.pdf Please be aware that large swathes of the BIT are not signed (apart from the Goan Hills Trails on SEQ Water land from Goan Road). This is something that the Boonah Ipswich Trail Group will be pursuing to rectify with local Councils.

15.01.2022 Great news for Logan City Council constituents! It would be wonderful to see the Logan Village - Yarrabilba Rail Trail be the catalyst for creation of the proposed Bethania to Beaudesert Rail Trail & with a long-term vision, connecting these trails to the pre-existing Fassifern Rail Trail in Boonah, & perhaps part of the Boonah Ipswich Trail - BIT, which utilises the walking & riding trails around Wyaralong Dam. What a fantastic regional loop that would be! Ivory's Rock Cara...van and Camping Horizon Guides See more

13.01.2022 The Fassifern Rail Trail was one of many trails slated for construction under the South East Queensland Active Trails Strategy. It was to join with the propose...d 76km Boonah Ipswich Trail - BIT. The ~6km Fassifern Rail Trail loop utilises a section of the disused Fassifern Railway Line on the outskirts of Boonah township, commencing off-Trail at the Boonah Visitor Information Centre (20 Boonah-Fassifern Rd, Boonah) via a walking track & up to the Bicentennial Place Lookout (32 Athol Tce, Boonah), before descending down an embankment to the Trail proper. The Fassifern Rail Trail continues on until the gate on Pocock Rd, Hoya. The small historic cemetery adjacent to the Trail records the resting place for a number of the pioneers of the area. The cemetery can be accessed from Red Bridge Rd, Hoya & is an alternative parking area for direct easy access. A paved section of the Trail - The Dugandan Pathway - appears near Yeates Ave, Boonah (Lions Park) & is pedestrian friendly for about 600m to Mount French Rd on the western side of Dugandan Park. Dugandan was the terminus of the former Fassifern Railway Line, which was disbanded in 1964. The Fassifern Railway Line is reported to have been the first branch line constructed in Queensland. Dugandan Pathway terminates near Mt French Rd, not all that far from the popular Dugandan Hotel.

13.01.2022 We attended a very productive community consultation meeting with ARTC Inland Rail yesterday evening in Peak Crossing. The aim of our attendance was to confirm that connectivity of the Boonah Ipswich Trail - BIT would be preserved post-construction of the Calvert to Kagaru (C2K) Section of Inland Rail that will intersect the surveyed BIT at Wild Pig Creek Road in Undullah. We will now work on an official submission to Inland Rail regarding the draft EIS/Trail accessibility &... are confident that full connectivity will remain, albeit with a slight change in course to accommodate the inevitable changes in the landscape that will result in creation of Inland Rail. 01.01.2022 via Shannon Fentiman MP Logan City Council are one step closer to having a fantastic recreational trail from Bethania to Logan Village! The Palaszczuk Government has awarded $200,000 to Logan City Council to assess the old Beaudesert Railway Line as a new 10km recreation & cycling trail.... This also means another step in the right direction for re-booting of the Boonah Ipswich Trail - BIT, which could connect Rail Trails from Beaudesert in the west, to Ipswich & the Fassifern Rail Trail in Boonah Township! Well done, Logan City Council!
