24.01.2022 Happy Holidays everyone! Today we enjoyed celebrating our last day of kindy for term 2 with a Pyjama Party! What perfect weather it was for us to feel cosy and warm in our PJs all day long! Our pyjama party was all about the letter P. We had a picnic (indoors of course because it was so cold), where we ate all of the delicious things that we cooked for ourselves all beginning with the letter P: Pizza, Pikelets, Patty Cakes, and Popcorn. See you all after the holidays. Stay warm, stay safe and enjoy everybody!

22.01.2022 PREP VISITS HAVE BEGUN Are you enrolled and ready for Prep in 2021? Dont forget to find out when your schools prep orientation dates are- otherwise your child will miss out on all the fun. We loved talking about Prep this week at kindy, and had so many questions for our friends that had been for a visit. We wanted to know:... What do you do at prep? Who are our teachers going to be? Do you wear a uniform? Will you see your big brothers and sisters? Do you get to play? Where do you eat your lunch? Thanks Annabelle, Charlee, Robyn and Tom for filling us in on your day and putting our minds at ease. We are excited about going to prep next year, but first, we have lots more playing and learning to do at kindy!

20.01.2022 And here it is.....bringing the outdoors in! We continued on our journey this week investigating the life cycle of a sunflower. Our wall art shows our learning- what a sunflower needs to grow and all the different parts of a sunflower plant. Our learning extended out into the garden where we enjoyed the beautiful Winter sun while planting seeds and seedlings. We cant wait to be surrounded by beautiful pops of colourful flowers and yummy tomatoes while enjoying our outdoo...r surrounds. Maybe we will be lucky to grow enough tomatoes to share with our families? A story to finish off the week called Yucky Worms allowed us to make a new connection between worms and plants and how they are important in providing for each other. This intrigued us. Maybe we havent finished with our sunflower mural yet- maybe our interest in worms will develop further and our investigations will continue next week? One thing I know is that we have all left kindy this week keen to go in search of worms at our home, in our gardens and on our farms. I wonder if anybody finds any? I wonder if the rain that is coming this weekend may encourage the worms to peek out from the earth below? I wonder......

16.01.2022 From Paddock to Plate - Our Kindy to our tummy! To the delight of one of our newest kindy friends he discovered passionfruit growing in our kindy grounds. Curious about what they were, what they tasted like, and how they are used, we went on a sensory journey together of tasting, touching, smelling and seeing! It was unanimous that the passionfruit was yummier once we turned it into passionfruit icing and iced our very own biscuits.

15.01.2022 Birthday wishes do come true. All Lee wished for today as he blew out his candles on his birthday cakes, was to be picked up from kindy this afternoon by his daddy in the red Chevy. There was certainly excitement in the air, not only from Lee but the entire red group when we could hear the hum and rumble of the engine from quite a way off. We all raced downstairs just in time to watch the Chevy roar on in to our car park. This is a memory that will last a lifetime. I think our car loving enthusiasts will be talking about this for weeks to come.
13.01.2022 Covid-19. Were all in it together and after 6 long weeks we are all......Together Again.

13.01.2022 This week we welcomed Peter Fowler and his wife Michelle into our kindy to share with us his aboriginal culture. We learnt through song and dance, and connected to our Mother Earth. We loved trying to play the Yidaki (didgeridoo) & seeing and touching some of the tools that were used by the first nation people: the woomera and the boomerang. We listened on as Peter shared traditions and laws that have been shared to him from his uncles and elders. What a beautiful morning we shared together, connecting, exploring, listening and engaging. Thanks Peter and Michelle.

10.01.2022 I would love to welcome you into our wonderful little community kindy, C&K Boonah District Kindergarten. My name is Susan Parker and I am one of the Co-Directors at the kindy and I teach the red group with the support of my amazing assistant educator Judy Jenner. I have been teaching now for 27 years and I love it just as much now as the day that I started. My passion is teaching 3-5-year olds. Their world is full of wonder, awe and curiosity and being able to inspire and e...ncourage these amazing little people by providing the foundations for learning socially, emotionally and academically is truly rewarding. I have worked in all early childhood settings from childcare, to preschool through to state primary schools and I feel like I am now at home. C&K Boonah Kindy has been my home now for 13 years and I have had the pleasure of teaching and working with many families throughout our community. I love to meet and welcome new and past families into our kindy so that we can love, nurture, offer safety, peace and acceptance, allow the children to have a voice, and celebrate diversity. In my time off I enjoy keeping busy and active with my family. You will find me playing sport, spending time with my family, taking holidays and going shopping. Give us a call or pop out and meet us sometime. Our doors are always open and we would love to invite you to join our extended kindy family . See more

04.01.2022 FROM LITTLE THINGS BIG THINGS GROW Term 3 is here and we have hit the ground running. ... All of our learning this week was inspired by Braxs sunflower that he proudly shared with us which he grew while learning at home last term during COVID-19 lockdown. A simple sunflower gave us inspiration to explore still life drawings, create our very own sunflower garden mural on our wall experimenting with different materials, textures and tools, learn through literature reading many fiction and non fiction books and recount our learnings by scribing our stories to our educators. We cant wait to extend on our learning next week when we return as we plant a variety of seeds and seedlings to care for, nurture and observe in our kindy. LET YOUR DREAMS BLOSSOM
03.01.2022 A big shout out to some of our kindy grandparents who are the creators of Poppy and Grandmas Hobbies. Brax and his friends just love this wooden trolley that they have created for us to store all of our large blocks on - it certainly makes getting them out of our shed and packing them away much easier and safer. Arent we lucky we live in such a generous and caring community. Thanks Candyce Laegel for arranging this for us. Do yourself a favour everybody and check out the great range of items made by Jim and Val Zimmermann - Poppy and Grandmas hobbies
01.01.2022 C O L O U R. M I X I N G. F U N This weeks been all about COLOUR! After our go blue day last week and reading a great book Little Blue and Little Yellow the children have been keen to explore the world of colours and how they are made. There has been lots of exploration and experimenting. We have been predicting, observing and literally getting our hands dirty. Watch this space but, as we still havent finished our colour mixing journey. The children are brimming with ideas as to whats next!
01.01.2022 Writing with children provides us opportunities to engage them in meaning making using multiple modes of communication. Thus, writing refers to all forms of visual and written communication, rather than just conventional writing.... While investigating and exploring our interest area of At The Beach & Under the Sea this week, we used shells to practise writing our names and the formation of letters. During these writing experiences, our role as educators is to share in the enjoyment and fulfilment of creating texts, as well as to scaffold the childrens engagement to develop their emergent literacy skills.
01.01.2022 Thank you to everyone for supporting our Easter Raffle. Congratulations to all our raffle prize winners.
