25.01.2022 Great initiative...

25.01.2022 MG Woodshavings is a local business. I stole this from the about section :) Supplying quality woodshavings, sawdust, pine shavings for all requirments, animals great and small, in the great south east, Brisbane, Beaudesert, Gold Coast, Jimboomba, Canungra, Mt Tamborine, Maclean, Ipswich, Gatton, Boonah, Redland Bay, Jacobs Well, Brookfield, Anstead, Marburg and everywhere in between!

25.01.2022 Awesome products. Your soil will thank you!

24.01.2022 Let's hope this year is a not as full on for our fire fighters this season. Timely advice to clean out your gutters to catch the rain that IS going to fall soon (positive thinking, rain dances, wash the car, you know the drill...) Get fire, storm and flood ready - doesn't matter if they don't happen, it's best to be prepared

24.01.2022 If youre a local please donate. A lot of small donations adds up!

22.01.2022 Prepare for fires and floods and let's hope we don't get either. Lots of good rain please but no damage. There are a lot of people who think you can't get too much rain, yes you can!

22.01.2022 No, we wont be offering this service anytime soon

21.01.2022 Love these, I have one (need some more). Shop local as much as you can this Xmas

21.01.2022 , , : Today, your region has moved to Level 2 drought response for its drinking water supply, ...as Moogerah Dam has dropped below 25% capacity. As part of drought response, were closely monitoring local water usage and Seqwater is tracking further changes in the dam level. At the moment, your community is using around 136 litres per person per day. Wed like to say thank you for your water-saving efforts, and encourage you to keep up the great work. We know youre already a really mindful community when it comes to conserving water. You can view the current medium-level water restrictions here [urbanutilities.com.au/scenicrim] as well as tips on our website to see How low can you go! with your water use. Follow us on Facebook or check the webpage below for further updates for your community.

19.01.2022 Be careful over the next few days - remember a lot of things can start a fire.

17.01.2022 We are currently looking into safer weed control. Not only for Mike but for your soil, people and animals. Most are non-selective so are to be used on areas where everything needs spraying, not lawns (unless spot spraying) This is one we are looking at, there are a few more (this one showed up in my FB feed, funny that!) It seems to have a lot of good reviews.

16.01.2022 One way to get the kids (or hubby) to mow the lawns!

16.01.2022 I'd suggest checking from now on before starting any type of fire... Let the hot summer begin (I'm not ready!)

16.01.2022 Good article from Dept of Ag and Fisheries regarding Prickly Pear. This plant can be spread very easily, therefore, you need to know how to remove it so that you dont cause more plants to grow. Burning is one control method (not suitable in these weather conditions). If you are going to use herbicide, check this fact sheet for info first.... https://www.daf.qld.gov.au//IPA-Prickly-Pear-Control-PP29.

16.01.2022 I dont want to scare the rain away but it seems we might be getting some decent rain this year... Lake Moogerah could definately do with a top up and some green paddocks would be a nice change too! Enjoy the school holidays for anyone with kids. Speaking of holidays - Mike will be away from 18th Sept to 1st Oct.

12.01.2022 When you work for yourself you dont get to strike if theres a job to finish *sigh*. However, we 100% support tomorrows Climate Strike. Well done kids, parents and businesses for supporting this! We need a future for our kids and since the Govt isnt listening, we need to be louder so they will have to hear us ;) #ClimateStrike

11.01.2022 Lomandras, or mat rush, are one of the most widely used native plants, both traditionally by indigenous communities and today in urban environments. They are ha...rdy, have sweet scented flowers, stabilise soils and offer important habitat for small animals. The August LfWSEQ newsletter takes us through 5 steps to propagate Lomandras. 1. Cut the seed spikes when yellow. The spike shown here is green and still unripe. 2. Place flower spike in paper bag and allow to dry, releasing seeds. Tap bag gently to help seed release. 3. Soak seed in hot (not boiling) water for a couple of hours to break the hard seed coat. 4. Drain and sow seeds in seed raising mix. Seeds should germinate in 2-4 weeks. 5. Once an inch high, ‘prick out’ seedlings and transplant them into pots to grow on. More info at www.lfwseq.com.au/newsletters. Photos by Saul Hondow. See more

11.01.2022 Remember to shop as local as you can this Christmas. Local businesses employ locals and support our communities (kids sport, etc)

11.01.2022 I hate it but to say Xmas is not far away. Shop local :)

09.01.2022 Relevant now for sure but something to think about when planning your property gates.

03.01.2022 Something to keep an eye on with our trees and lack of water https://www.ipswichfirst.com.au/ipswich-green-thumbs-urged/

02.01.2022 Remember to get out and about in our local community, businesses are hurting after the fires (and drought), lets support them. Invite your city friends over for the weekend!

02.01.2022 Snakes are coming out of hibernation. Starting to see a few around on roads and properties. Good time to go through "what to do" with the kids if they find one in the yard or house. Yes, they do climb stairs - we had a red belly black hiding in our cupboard last year, another friend found a brown snake in the kids bedroom drawers, a client had one sleeping in her spare bed under the covers. Keep your property mowed around the house and sheds
