23.01.2022 If you look closely at this xray image, can you spot the foreign object? - ? -- ? --- ? Its the tip of a sewing needle lodged deep in a fourth toe bone!! Can you see the eye of the needle?? ... One of our lovely patients stood on a sewing needle 66 YEARS AGO, and it broke off during removal! OUCH!! 21.01.2022 INGROWN TOENAILS... OUCH! If youve ever had one, youll agree that they are painful! We regularly treat ingrown toenails here at the clinic. You may only need one appointment, at which our Podiatrist will gently remove a small wedge of nail from the problematic area. ... Our Podiatrist is also trained to surgically remove the small portion of nail if it continues to ingrow. We use local anaesthetic to numb the area and a special chemical to ensure that the side of the nail does not grow back. It has a success rate of approximately 99% and its done here at the clinic in the consultation room! We use numbing cream to ensure that you remain comfortable at all times, whether we are conservatively removing a piece of nail, or prior to local anaesthetic. Also, check your feet and toes regularly for abnormal-looking moles or freckles anywhere on the foot - even under toenails and on your soles. Seek advice ASAP if you find anything suspicious. 02.01.2022 UPDATE: COVID-19 Following the Prime Ministers announcement on March 24, we can confirm that we are OPEN and encouraged to continue practicing. You will notice some important changes upon entering: The 4 square metre social distancing rule applies in our waiting room. We are ringing you the day prior to your appointment to ask our mandatory, infection control questions. ... We are constantly disinfecting our surfaces to ensure the cleanliness and disinfection of our environment. We no longer have our shoes on display and have removed our drink fountain, magazines, socks and foot creams. Our stock is still able to be sold, but we want to limit what can be touched in reception. We ask that you use our hand sanitiser prior to entering, which is located on the front entry window. You are able to wash your hands with our surgical grade handwash should you choose. We have opened the front door and waiting room windows to allow for natural ventilation. Please respect the personal space of our lovely receptionist; we ask that you dont lean over the front counter to chat. With your co-operation and understanding, we can continue to provide a high quality health service throughout these testing times. Thank you all for your support, and we are still smiling!
