It is important to note there are differences on who should use what TYPE of mask but the CRITERIA for obtaining them are the same. Please read below for the full details BUT if you are over 60 years of age and/or have an underlying medical condition you should NOT be wearing these reusable masks.... CRITERIA | Who is determined to be a Vulnerable Victorian? - People who are being actively managed for the following chronic conditions o Poor immunity o Heart disease o Diabetes o Stroke o Obesity o Chronic lung disease o Alcohol and drug dependency o Frailty - People living in public housing, in crisis accommodation or who are homeless - People living in rooming houses and supported residential services - People living with disability - People experiencing mental health and their carers - People with health and/or social issues that make them vulnerable, including people with alcohol and drug issues, including those attending primary and secondary needle and syringe programs - People experiencing family violence - People living in residential facilities - young people living in mandatory facilities - Aboriginal people - Refugee and asylum seekers (including temporary visa holders). TYPE of MASKS available 1. Reusable Masks (as per Monash Health) Permitted Use: - General Public in public settings - General public on transportation Unpermitted Use: - Exposure to vulnerable populations o People over 60 years of age o People with underlying medical issues - People undertaking medical tasks - By people exhibiting any symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 - By health care workers or caregivers in: o A hospital, health facility, health care facility and/or homecare o The community, community care environment and home visits. - Any setting in the community which results in exposure to persons with any symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 - Setting where physical distancing cannot be achieved and increased and increased risk of infection and/or negative outcomes. 2. Single use surgical face masks are preferred for all individuals wherever possible. *Please note there are lawful exemptions from wearing a face mask including people with certain medical conditions*
