25.01.2022 STRESS-BUSTING SNACKS // The food we eat can be our most powerful ally in health, or our biggest downfall. Supporting yourself with a healthy diet can in turn support a healthy stress response and immune system function. . Have you ever tried Avocado Mousse? It’s a delicious dessert alternative & takes less than 10 minutes to prepare!! Just put avocado, ripe banana, maple syrup & cacao in a blender & whizz!! Refrigerate to set. Enjoy!! #boortnaturaltherapies

25.01.2022 The breakfast of choice in our household this week has been loaded oats. Yes, ‘loaded’ oats! A term that my kids have given it, meaning Mum cooks the oats and we load it up..... with goodness of course. The possibilities are endless. . This morning we had ripe bananas to use up so we’ve made fluffy banana oats. Some of the toppings used were Yoghurt, chia seeds and other mixed seeds, mixed berries, sliced banana, coconut, dark choc and peanut butter (or maple syrup). Other days, we’ve had walnuts, dates..... so many ways to load it up and you’re getting the benefits of calming oats, protein, healthy fats (seeds/nuts), fibre and antioxidants (berries). . What a great way to bring some resilience back to our nervous system! How do you like your oats? #boortnaturaltherapies

These foods are jam-packed with essential vitamins and minerals, along with phyto chemicals & antioxidants, which support & strengthen our immune systems! Try to include the following in your cooking this Winter to help combat those sniffles. Garlic, onion, ginger& Chilli. Cruciferous veggies such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage & brussel sprouts. Vit...amin A containing foods such as carrots, pumpkin, sweet potato & green leafy veg. . This Chicken Korma Curry is packed with pumpkin, onion, chicken thigh, garlic, ginger, spices, coconut milk & cauliflower (rice). When choosing chicken, opt for the dark chicken meats, such as thigh. It is full of zinc, an essential mineral during cold season, with its added support to immune function, healing & fighting of infections. 21.01.2022 DOPAMINE // Emerging research has shown that increasing the amount of both phenylalanine and tyrosine in the diet can improve dopamine levels in the brain. Dopamine is our feel-good hormone. . Tyrosine-rich foods include red meats, chicken, fish, eggs, legumes, whole grains, as well as nuts. Are you getting enough? #boortnaturaltherapies Pinterest

20.01.2022 Headaches, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, brain fog!! Does this sound like you? PMS symptoms can be quite similar to histamine intolerance. . Oestrogen stimulates mast cells to make more histamine, while also down-regulating our DAO enzyme (this enzyme is needed to clear histamine). At the same time, Histamine can stimulate ovaries to make oestrogen. Therefore, as they are both feeding each other forward, it can create a vicious cycle. .... If this sounds like you and you’re interested in exploring this further, send me a message or jump online and book in today! We are still open for online consults and are happy to help! #boortnaturaltherapies See more

07.01.2022 CAULIFLOWER // This is one of my favourite vegetables and it is so versatile!! Try it in a stir-fry, roast it whole, blend it into cauliflower rice & add to a curry or even make a cauliflower mash. . I also love cauliflower because it is packed full of sulphur compounds that assist liver detox pathways - in particular one called sulfuration. Sulfuration helps us to metabolise excess oestrogen & other hormones that can build up in unhealthy levels. Other sulphur containing vegetables are kale, broccoli, mustard sprouts & cabbage! How delicious does this roasted cauliflower steak look by @jessica_gavin? What is your favourite cauliflower recipe? #boortnaturaltherapies
