19.01.2022 Flashback Friday Allllll the way back to 1912 this week when 3YO American colt, First Voyage (by Bon Voyage x Elsie Downs) took the Distance Handi...cap Trot at the Bendigo Jockey Club's winter meeting - as outlined by Noel Ridge in his piece here: https://www.thetrots.com.au//trots-history-bendigo-jockey/ First Voyage stood at Belmont Stud that season along with Billy Mac (Boreal x Lill), and threw many offspring, including Olive Voyage (from Fairy Dame), who is the 6x great granddam of Illawong Byron (Muscle Mass, $173,000). The bloodline of his half-sister, Grattan Maid (Grattan Abbey), can still be seen today - ten generations later - in the likes of a 2019 Bling It On filly from Miss Ellie May (Live Or Die) and a 2019 Fear The Dragon colt from Elusive Heart (Modern Art). The previous generation has proven useful, and includes Bettor Bet Black ($455,000, Bettors Delight) and Taurisi (Always A Virgin, $118,000), both out of Perfect Art mare Exclusif, as has the generation before that which includes Hamish Dundee (Dundee Butler, $217,000) and Jethros Madam (Fake Left, $100,000), both out of Entrepreneaur mare, Madam Ex.

12.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY To 1956 - the Olympics were in town and the Showgrounds celebrated with a series culminating that December with the 2,000 Olympi...c Year Cup, won by Grand Monarch and Gordon Rothacker. Grand Monarch went on to stand at stud, and his bloodline can still be found in 2020 through his daughter, Coffee Break. Her Oinaka daughter, Iced Coffee, bred Vanilla Ice (Stakhanovite) who won $58,000 and later foaled Vanilla Sunrise (Sundon). Vanilla Sunrise was bred twice in SA, resulting in Ramos (Angus Hall) and a 2017 filly by Trixton, before being sold to a partnership including HBV members Clyde Little & Nick Hooper. Her latest foal, a colt by Harras des Trotteurs' Love You, is entered for the 2021 Australasian Premier Trotting Sale. Vanilla Sunrise was last served in 2019 by Wishing Stone. Can anyone name the other men in the photo? : Museum Victoria via Trove
12.01.2022 The Central Victorian Trotters Championship has been won in spectacular fashion by Hanging On A dream. Driven by Neil McCallum and trained by Keith Douglas, the 9yo mare pulled away from the field to win with ease. Special thanks to major race sponsors Boort Grain Co-op and VHRC. Further thanks to more amazingly generous sponsors, APG-APTS for their sales vouchers and Ken and Jan Wills, Niota Bloodstock for their sponsorship of a service to Kvintet Avenger.

08.01.2022 Something different. A change of gait.
08.01.2022 Big congratulations to Boort Trots president John Campbell. Another outstanding win by Boxofchocolates against some quality horses.

08.01.2022 We note with sadness today that the search for the missing crew of the livestock ship off the coast of Japan has been scaled down. Lucas Orda who was a well res...pected Vet at Shepparton Harness meetings whilst employed by GV Equine was listed as missing. Cessation of the search implies that unfortunately Lucas is assumed lost at sea which must be so hard for his family and friends. On behalf of all at the Shepparton Harness Club and industry participants we extend our deepest of sympathies to his partner and infant, his immediate family and many friends. The summary by Jim Vasey in the Shepparton News was acutely accurate. He was a terrific person best suited to his work as a Vet. So sad on many levels.
08.01.2022 The Central Victorian Pacers Championship was won by Krafty Bart, trained by Emma Stewart and driven by Jack Laugher. The owner also takes home the $1500 bonus for being VHRC members! Special thanks to the major sponsors of this race, the VHRC and Boort Grain Co-op. Further thanks to even more wonderful sponsors, APG- APTS for the bonus voucher and sales discount and Ian and Judy Slater for the service to Restrepo, Goodtime Lodge. What amazing support for a great race.
03.01.2022 What a moment for David Moran and his brilliant Lochinvar Art. Patience, power, made all the right moves and walks away with the Pryde's EasiFeed Victoria Cup, beating a very very good King Of Swing.
03.01.2022 What a find! With special thanks to the Bendigo Racecourse Back in the Day page; this historic photo depicts the Committee of the Boort Racing and Trotting Club of 1900. To put names to the men pictured will be nigh on impossible, but the gentleman second from right in the front row is Robert Coutts, the inaugural Club President (1891-1894 then again in 1907 and 1909-1910); and who in later years was dubbed 'the father of trotting in the North'. One could also safely assume the person to his immediate left would be Dr W.J. Bird who convened the meeting that ultimately brought the Boort Trotting Club into existence. He also served as the Club's first Vice President and Judge as well as holding the Presidency from 1897-1904
02.01.2022 A couple for our friends at the Kerang Turf Club, from the 1912 Boxing Day meeting...
01.01.2022 For today’s we head to back to 1980. . ... ’, ‘’ . In a great career, the dual Inter Dominion winner Gammalite had 179 starts, for 94 wins, 33 seconds and 19 third placings. He won $1,386,480. And who could forget his memorable clashes with Popular Alm! A great moment in our harness racing’s rich history. #HarnessRacing #Trots #Histrory #HaroldPark
