25.01.2022 Golden Retriever had to wear a cone for 13 days, so his owner got crafty with them.

25.01.2022 As we are uncertain what will unfold in the next few weeks we encourage you if your animal is on prescription medicine or speciality food to place an order ASAP. At the moment we are doing emergency work only and we hope to continue to provide this service but it may be done remotely with reduced opening hours. If you are unsure what constitutes an emergency please call. We are happy to discuss this. We will keep you informed.

24.01.2022 Bear will be feeling much better without this up his nose.

24.01.2022 With everything that is going on in the world at the moment it's nice to see mother nature at its best....this little one just entered the world, without my assistance in this case.

24.01.2022 Avian influenza has been confirmed on an additional farm in the Golden Plains Shire and on an emu farm near Kerang. Avian influenza is a highly contagious viru...s that can affect many bird species including pet and farmed poultry. Bird owners in the Golden Plains Shire and near Kerang need to monitor the health of their birds and immediately report signs of sickness or disease to the Emergency Animal Disease Watch Hotline on 1800 675 888. 13.01.2022 Happy Tuesday...

12.01.2022 Last night the federal government officially recognised vets as an essential service. What this means is that we will be able to continue to provide veterinary care to Boort and the surrounding communities. We will be operating an emergency style clinic. We will still be available to provide medicine for chronic and ongoing conditions and prescription foods. If you are unsure what constitutes an emergency please call. Some things that may seem minor can be an emergency.... We are well trained to triage over the phone and happy to talk through the options. We would rather a call to clarify than an animal suffering at home because you weren't sure if it was an emergency. So if in doubt give us a call. At this stage all routine surgeries will be postponed but we are making a waiting list if you would like to be added. Puppy or high risk vaccinations can continue however we will postpone adult annual vaccinations for now. Again you can call and be placed on a list to be called once we are back running routine procedures. Take care Fiona See more

12.01.2022 Congratulations Marie Featherstone. Winner of the $100 gift certificate. Thanks for sharing all the amazing photos of your beautiful furry friends.

11.01.2022 There are important steps you can take to make sure your birds stay free of avian influenza. Remember if you notice anything unusual in your flock to call the Emergency Animal Disease Watch Hotline on 1800 675 888. Agriculture Victoria

10.01.2022 Meet ......??? Maybe his name will be corona??!! He is our new clinic cat....he is super smoochy and such a lovely boy....We need your help. He needs a name. Post below if you have any suggestions.

10.01.2022 She arrived in Boort 21 years ago, as a veterinary grad keen to gain experience. Today, Fiona Caine is still there and is an essential part of the small communi...ty - as the only vet in the northern Victoria shire - responsible for the care of livestock, pets and wildlife within 140km. Fiona is a nominee in The Weekly Times Shine Awards. Read her story: bit.ly/2YRLWka

10.01.2022 Over the next few months we ask that if you require repeats of prescription medicines or foods that you ring through your order first to limit your time in the clinic. We remind you that if there is someone already in reception please wait outside and we will come and get you as soon as possible. We would also prefer that payment is made by card or transfer rather than cash if possible.

10.01.2022 Sorry our phones have not been working this morning . We are currently having our phone diverted to a mobile so should be up and running again soon. Thanks for your patience You can email [email protected] Or message through FB messenger if you can't get through

10.01.2022 In the interest of our staff , family and friends we ask that you consider the following - By now most of us are aware of the general principles to protect ourselves and others against infection and spread of the COVID-19 virus 1.good hygiene ... 2.social distancing 3.self isolation We ask that if you are unwell please do not come into the clinic. We have procedures in place to allow us to examine your sick pet while limiting our exposure to the virus. If you are unsure PLEASE CALL the clinic, do not tell us after you have arrived. In addition to these we also ask the following; 1. If our waiting room has someone in it please remain outside on the seat and we will see you as soon as we can. 2.Only one person accompany your pet into the clinic. We will be spacing appointments so that overlap of customers entering our premises is minimised. Please be mindful that sometimes emergencies happen which means our consults run late. On arrival we ask you wave through the window or phone to let us know you have arrived. Rather than waiting in the waiting room we ask that you return to your car, or wait outside. We are well equipped as an industry and deal with communicable diseases on a regular basis. This is not new to us and our disinfection procedures are well practiced. Take care and please call if you are unsure. Our aim is to continue to provide uninterrupted veterinary care in our community but we require your help to make this happen. We would prefer a call to clarify what is the best way to examine your pet than to potentially expose our staff. Kindest regards Fiona, Kathy, Donna and Madeleine

09.01.2022 Starting tomorrow we have a closed door policy. OUR FRONT DOOR WILL BE LOCKED. We are trying to continue to offer services while reducing the risk to our staff and families. When you arrive please remain on the front seat or in your car. We will come and get you as soon as we can. Your concerns can be discussed by phone or outside while we maintain social distancing. No one other than staff will be able to enter the clinic. We will still try to slot longer than norm...al consult times to limit the amount of overlap between clients. Please be mindful that sometimes emergencies happen and we may be running late. If there is already someone on the bench please stay in your car. We urge you to postpone any non essential visits. If you are unsure call and we can help to decide whether you need to visit us. We would prefer payment via card or direct deposit. A reminder that if you require prescription medicines or food can you please preorder over the phone. Even these measures may be readdressed in the coming days or weeks. We will keep you informed if things change. Take care . Fiona, Kathy, Donna and Madeleine.

08.01.2022 Canine Appreciation

07.01.2022 During the last few months we have continued to do mainly curbside appointments where only the animal has entered the clinic or in some circumstances one person. In order to comply with government advice, and keep our staff and community as safe as possible from Monday 27th of July we have been wearing face masks if animal only consults are not possible. So if required by us to accompany your pet into the clinic we ask that you wear a mask or purchase a single use surgical one from us on arrival. We thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times. Take care from all the staff at boort vets

06.01.2022 From midnight tonight we will resume stage four restrictions in Victoria. Due to this all routine appointments will be postponed until Thursday ( hopefully we will resume full service then). We will be in contact with everyone that has appointments that this will impact. Emergency work will still be carried out during this time. If you require advice or you are unsure please do not hesitate to call us. Take care Fiona, Kathy, Madeleine and Donna

05.01.2022 The week marks twenty years since Fiona first starting working as a vet at BVS. To celebrate this we are giving away a $100 gift voucher to be used at the clinic. To be in the running to win this like our page, tag two friends and share your favourite picture of your pet in the comments section. Winner will be drawn randomly on February 28th.

05.01.2022 He uses his tail a a propeller

05.01.2022 Look at those stumpy legs go! Did you know wombats can run as fast as 40k per hour? This one was spotted out for a jog in Bungonia National Park in NSW.... : Lindsay McDougall

04.01.2022 Happy international dog day.

04.01.2022 Sometimes we do have time to just have a play and a cuddle....this is the adorable Kevin. In for his primary vaccination course today. This week has been hectic and with all the regulations in place we thank you for your patience and understanding. Everything takes just that little bit longer at the moment between disinfecting and having no extra humans in the clinic. We continue to allow extra time between consults to allow for the extra work and thank you for being patient if we are faced with an emergency which means your appointment time runs late. Happy weekend. Stay safe Fiona

03.01.2022 Tonight we helped Katie deliver her puppies by caesarian. Nurse Madeleine did a fantastic job reviving them all. Long days at the clinic are well worth it when you get to finish it off with puppy cuddles

03.01.2022 Farm call outs, in the mud and under Ute lights, are rewarding when you get to deliver a live calf. A great end to another busy day at BVS.

02.01.2022 The snakes are out..... unfortunately our lovely Howard who started out as our clinic cat but now lives with Fiona and her family was bitten yesterday morning. Lucky we found him not long after it happened. He was already collapsed and struggling to breathe. After some antivenin and fluid therapy today he is feeling much better and will be able to go home tomorrow.
