24.01.2022 CONTROVERSIAL MOTION TO GO BEFORE COUNCIL The potential for a dedicated mountain biking facility on the Central Coast will be debated at tonight's cou...ncil meeting. Deputy Mayor Jane Smith is behind the motion, which is calling for the establishment of a working group to consider options for the park outside environmental lands. Some in the mountain bike community fear the move could spell the end for local trails, with Councillor Smith expressing concern that existing trails on Kincumba mountain are damaging ecologically sensitive land, and are 'undesirable'. Central Coast MTB Trail Alliance secretary Leif Arnebark said he is concerned the motion could make environmental land off-limits for riding. "You can't remove mountain biking from environmental lands. Removing mountain biking from the bush is like removing surfing from the beach, it just doesn’t work," he said.
