21.01.2022 During the week Lyall Newsome came into collect some thoughtful little messages written and illustrated by Prep and Year 3 at Sacred Heart School. Lyall has now taken them down to the residents at the Salvation Army Aged Care Riverview. Im sure the residents will be delighted to receive them. Thank you to the students who contributed to this kind gesture.

17.01.2022 Last Sunday we restarted Blaze in person! Our youth have been faithfully gathering on Zoom but it was wonderful to get together face-to-face. We had a treasure hunt of the week’s scriptures then delved into our own treasure boxes - what is most important to us? We finished by beginning a Blaze banner. Can’t wait for next fortnight!

17.01.2022 PENTECOST SUNDAY Lord, send out you Spirit and renew the face of the earth (Psalm 104)

15.01.2022 Happy Feast of the Sacred Heart! Preparing for this feast, there have been many articles popping up online with quotes from Pope Francis (who evidently uses the... word "heart" countless times in his writings and homilies), Karl Rahner and various saints and scholars but of all of them, this simple one from the late Henri Nouwen, gets right to the "heart" of the matter! May love surround you this day, within and without! "For Jesus, there are no countries to be conquered, no ideologies to be imposed, no people to be dominated. There are only children, women and men to be loved." Henri Nouwen Artwork by British artist, Stephen B. Whatley

06.01.2022 We wish a very happy birthday to Sacristan Francis from Booval Catholic Parish who has been serving at the altar for 70 years! Francis told us why he loves bein...g a sacristan: "The main reason, is the close proximity to the Blessed Sacrament and the Holy Scriptures. Francis said he was thankful that he had been able to get to know every parish priest over the years and for the fact that the Mass is said in English (as opposed to in Latin when he was a boy). He said this has opened up pathways for him to understand the scriptures better. Francis said he was grateful to God for giving him the gift of a long life. We are grateful to you Francis, and would like to thank you for your generous contributions over the years.

04.01.2022 Dear Friends, we pray that you are all well as we celebrated the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, also known as Corpus Christ over the weekend. We are gra...teful to be able to come together and celebrate mass in the churches despite the limitations of the number. This week let us continue to like and follow our parishes and support them via Facebook. This Monday morning, David McGovern visited Sacred Heart Catholic Church Booval and caught up with Fr Thomas Varkey - Parish Priest, Cathy Peacock - Parish Secretary, and Donna Conway - Pastoral Ministry Co-ordinator & Safeguarding Officer in the pic below. It was a beautiful and peaceful morning out in the parish grounds. Wherever you are today, may the Lord be with you always.

04.01.2022 Last Saturday some of our children celebrated the First Rite of Reconciliation after a paused preparation due to COVID. During the final preparation workshop we joined in prayer through a labyrinth walk - a very old Christian tradition. It was a privilege walking this journey of faith with our young ones
