19.01.2022 Just like a bee to honey! except our varroa mite eradication team in Townsville use some other techniques to catch beesincluding aerial ballooning! Sticky ...fishing line connected to the balloon is doused in a Queen bee pheromone, which male drone bees find irresistible. Once attracted, the drones get stuck on the line and can then be identified and checked for the presence of varroa mites. 14.01.2022 BEESWAX Made from the honeycomb of the honeybee, beeswax is the purest and most natural of all waxes. For each pound of beeswax provided by a honey bee, the b...ee visits over 30 million flowers. To produce one pound of wax requires the bees to consume about eight to ten pounds of honey. They secrete the beeswax from the underside of their abdomens, and then use the wax to construct a honeycomb. The youngest bees cluster in large numbers to raise their body temperature. Wax-producing glands under their abdomens slowly secrete slivers of wax about the size of a pinhead. Other worker bees harvest these wax scales and take them to the part of the hive requiring the new wax. Bees use about 6 lb of honey to produce 1 lb of wax. Bees can produce 8 wax flakes in around 12 hours so that gives you an idea of how patient and arduous they are in building comb for their babies and food.

12.01.2022 *LEARN ON THE VARIETIES OF HONEY* The various forms that we could have honey include; 1 *.Pasteurized honey* which has been heated in a pasteurization process w...hich requires temperatures of 71C or higher. Pasteurization destroys yeast cells. It also liquefies any microcrystals in the honey, which delays the onset of visible crystallization. 2. *Raw honey* is honey as it exists in the beehive or as obtained by extraction, settling or straining, without adding heat. Raw honey contains some pollen and may contain small particles of wax. 3. *Strained honey* has been passed through a mesh material to remove particulate material (pieces of wax, propolis, other defects) without removing pollen, minerals or enzymes. 4. *Creamed honey* has been processed to control crystallization. It contains a large number of small crystals, which prevent the formation of larger crystals that can occur in unprocessed honey. 5. *Dried honey* has the moisture extracted from liquid honey to create completely solid, non-sticky granules. Commonly used in baking industry and to garnish desserts. 6. *Comb honey* is honey that is still in the honeybees' wax comb. The comb is cut out in chunks before packaging. Many people prefer honey in this form. 7. *Crystallized honey* is honey in which some of the glucose content has spontaneously crystallized from solution as the monohydrate. It is also called "granulated honey" or "candied honey." Crystallised honey can be returned to a liquid state by warming. Honey producer should be able to label their kinds of honey in which form it is packaged. In that case, the issue of expiry date may be relevant in some cases, eg, Pasteurized, but where the label indicates "pure honey" which in most cases could mean, 'raw honey', and with expiry date, I'll be suspicious. @ justin natural honey +255759904750 +255679904750 Iringa -Tanzania.

12.01.2022 Flowers talk to bees . Flowering plants attract bees with nectar, pollen and alluring aroma in a hope for exchange of pollen . The last thing the flowe...r wants is to attract a bee and then fail to provide nectar. Flower emits a weak electric signal that tells the bee if the flower is full of nectar and a different electrical signal after the nectar has been harvested . The bees accumulate a positive charge as they fly, while the flowers have a negative charge. The interaction between the fields is detected by bee's antennae or sensitive hairs on the body. It is a bee-autiful example of a long-standing symbiotic relationship. #everythingisconnected #notjustflowers #beetalk #honeybee #flowerstalking

09.01.2022 A lot of us have a bird bath in our yard, but how many of us have a bee bath? A healthy hive has resided on my parents' property for 15 years, and my mom provid...es a tiny watering hole for them so they can safely collect water without risk of drowning. It's a shallow pool with a flat rock that she refills with clean water every day or two depending on the temperature outside. On a hot day, the hive will collect as much as a quart of water. It takes about 800 bees making 50 trips a day to collect that much water according to recent studies. How do they use the water? There are several uses, including air conditioning. Air conditioning in a bee hive works similarly to the air conditioning used in many of our homes. Worker bees strategically place water droplets inside the hive, then bees fan their wings to pass air over the water, thereby using evaporative cooling to lower the temperature. Making a bee bath is simple. The key is to make certain the bees can stand safely without risk of drowning. A pond with floating plants will do, or a shallow container with rocks will work. Of course the water should be free of pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals. Birds, butterflies, and other small creatures will visit the bee bath, as well, so keep your cameras ready!
09.01.2022 1/12th of a teaspoon is the number of honey one worker bee produces in her lifetime. 144840 is how many kilometres a honey bee will fly for 1 kg of honey, which is equivalent to three trips around the earth. #savethebees @sadanimalfacts

05.01.2022 Witness a close up view of Spring in the macadamia orchard. See the delicate, white macadamia flower strands, with bees moving from flower to flower. They are s...eeking out nectar for their hives and in the process transferring pollen amongst the trees, exactly what is needed for pollination, which turns the flowers into macadamia nuts. This is nature in action. See more
