24.01.2022 We have been recently asked to participate in NSW Koala Strategy for a ‘Private Forest Koala Survey’ and a recorder has been placed in the Booyong forest to capture the sounds of wildlife on the property. We're very excited and will let you know what the findings are. We have 85 acres of bushland and many trees that koala's like to eat! https://www.facebook.com/SeeAustralia/videos/354883638961425/

20.01.2022 What's happening at Booyong this January http://www.booyongconservation.com//january-in-the-food-f/

18.01.2022 Booyong Conservation supports NAIDOC Week - Always Was, Always Will Be! We recognise that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country.... This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. Australia has the world’s oldest oral stories. The First Peoples engraved the world’s first maps, made the earliest paintings of ceremony and invented unique technologies. We built and engineered structures - structures on Earth - predating well-known sites such as the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge. Our adaptation and intimate knowledge of Country enabled us to endure climate change, catastrophic droughts and rising sea levels. Always Was, Always Will Be. acknowledges that hundreds of Nations and our cultures covered this continent. All were managing the land - the biggest estate on earth - to sustainably provide for their future. Through ingenious land management systems like fire stick farming we transformed the harshest habitable continent into a land of bounty. NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Our coastal Nations watched and interacted with at least 36 contacts made by Europeans prior to 1770. Many of them resulting in the charting of the northern, western and southern coastlines of our lands and our waters. For us, this nation’s story began at the dawn of time. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. Always Was, Always Will Be. https://www.naidoc.org.au//images/naidoc-logo-landscape.jpg

17.01.2022 Looks like it will be a great Macadamia nut season at Booyong this year!

17.01.2022 The mulberries are lovely and plump at Booyong this year! http://www.booyongconservation.com/mulberry-tree/

17.01.2022 We can't believe it’s been a year since the tragic fire season that traumatised our nation. Booyong is lovely and green in contrast to last year and we are so grateful. You never know what the years ahead will bring and we will ensure we continue to do what we can to be prepared. We will continue to work with our local community and RFS and are so grateful we feel safe due to the support and dedication shown by fire fighters nationwide.

16.01.2022 WHAT’S HAPPENING AT BOOYONG IN FEBRUARY Unlike last year, we have continued to be blessed by continuous rain this month. All of the fruit trees, herbs and vegetables are doing really well and the grass is lovely and green. All of the fruit trees are in great shape and becoming well established. Our Limes are starting to fruit and should be ready for harvest next month. The Persimmons are also close to harvesting, interestingly the tree by the cabin is covered in fruit and the...Continue reading

11.01.2022 The beautiful Sacred Kingfishers come back to nest every Spring - so stunning, we 're blessed and always happy to see them return! http://www.booyongconservation.com/sacred-kingfisher/

05.01.2022 ANOTHER GREAT AIR BNB REVIEW - Thanks Natarsha! - 'It was just the quiet getaway we were hoping for and more. The bush property is a lovely quiet setting (well the nature sounds weren't quiet, but quite delightful) and the house provides all the comfort and amenities we could need. We loved the outdoor shower, reading in a hammock overloocking the lagoon, quietly watching a kangaroo and her joey feed on the lawn and eating the fresh eggs from the chickens. There was plenty to keep us occupied and discovering on the property as well as some local gems a short distance away. Brett made us feel very welcome.' https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/43508937

04.01.2022 WHAT’S HAPPENING AT BOOYONG IN JANUARY What a contrast to last year, the rain has just not stopped this Summer. It’s fabulous and the property is looking lush and green. We have noticed an increase in wildlife, lots of Eastern grey kangaroos and Wallabies with baby joey’s in their pouches enjoying all of the new growth. They are getting very used to human company too and it’s so lovely to provide them with a safe place to live. We had some fun jumping puddles and exploring t...Continue reading

01.01.2022 Look who's eating our eggs, with the warmer weather the goanna's are out and about at Booyong. They're extraordinary creatures but not when they're threatening our chickens. http://www.booyongconservation.com/goanna-lace-monitor/

01.01.2022 The creeks at Booyong are flowing ..... Thank you for everyone’s thoughts and well wishes. We continue to be ok and our hearts go out to our friends and neighours. As one friend has said we are a resiliant community that supports each other. When the water begins to reside we have no doubt that everyone will pitch in to help each other.
