08.01.2022 To bring you up to speed with the latest stimulus package provided by the Government, Borcat Trailers have summarised some key points on how the stimulus can work for you. There are two parts to the stimulus package. There is an Instant Asset Write-Off and also a 50% Instant Depreciation on assets over $150k. Note - There is a time limit on the Instant Assest Write-Off which expires June 30th, 2020.... THE 50% DEPRECIATION WRITE-OFF - on assets OVER $150k: This initiative is valid for 15 months, until June 30, 2021 an is eligible on vehicle and machinery purchases on NEW equipment, GREATER than $150k excluding GST. These assets must be acquired between March 12th 2020 and June 30th, 2021. Assets must be NEW not used. This extended initiative is also applicable to assets of $150k or less for an extra year once the $150k Instant Asset Write-Off has expires on 30th June 2020. There are no limits to the amount of assets you can purchase using this 50% depreciation initiative. Chattel Mortgage Finance can be used to acquire the asset or can be purchased outright. Check with your financial institution for options and advice around this initiative if not purchased outright. Lease financing will not work under this initative. Replacement Policy finance is available on many larger assests across a broad range of fiancial institiutions. Again, the extended 50% Depreciation Write-Off initiative will apply to assets $150k or less for an extra year once the $150k Instant Assest Write-Off expires on June 30, 2020 . The INSTANT ASSEST WRITE-OFF: This Instant Assest Write-Off applies to eligable assets with a purchase price of $150k or less without GST. These assets must be purchased between March 12th and June 30th 2020. These assets can be either new OR used. An important point is, the $150k limit is available ON EACH asset. Therefore, the write-off can be used on multiple assets totalling more than $150k using this initiative. Again, there is no limit to the number of these assets with the Instant Asset Write-Off so long as any one asset does not cost more than $150k without GST. Assets can be purchased outright but check with your financial institution on finanace options and advise. Lease financing will not work for this initiative. You only have 4 months to act on this $150k Instant Asset Write-Off initiative. Orders must be in place BEFORE June 30th, 2020.
