15.01.2022 Borden Bowling Club played their Men’s club singles championships on Saturday, 15 February, with 11 members competing on a very warm day. The day produced some crackerjack tussles across both sides of the draw.... Graham Moir had to overcome two tight games against Sacha Williams and Glen Macaulay to reach the semi-final where he met current singles winner Tim O’Meehan. Tim prevailed in the semi-final match 21-6. The other side of the draw produced a similar scenario. Ryan Gobbart had two tough games against Gordon Thill and Rod Moir but came out on top in the end. First year bowler Hamish Milne came out in fine form to win himself a semi-final berth against Ryan. This produced a high standard game which saw both players having their chances until Ryan won 21-17. After a tough day of long games while the temperature hovered around 38C Tim was able to defeat Ryan in the final 25-13 to become the club’s 2019-2020 singles champion. A big thank you to all those who played and marked on the day, particularly Gordon who has become our specialist finals marker. And to Susan Moir who was there all day marking and helping out. Congratulations to Susan on being one of a team of 20 bowlers selected into the Southern Zone Women’s team after a great showing playing for the Central Stirlings Bowls League last weekend. See more
