25.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce the winners of our First Nations Writing Award and Cover Art Prize! Congratulations to First Nations Writing Award winner Karen Wyld for her winning short story ‘Clatter Tongue’! The judges loved this story for its intricate use of language and ‘reflection and presence’. ‘Clatter Tongue’ will be published in our upcoming print edition. ... Congratulations to Cover Art Prize winner Lana Twyford for her winning entry ‘My Country’! (pictured below). The judges loved the representations of the Territory and Territory life reflected in the image. We are so excited for ‘My Country’ to grace the cover of our upcoming print edition. 22.01.2022 We can't wait to share the details of our Darwin and Alice Springs launches for our first print edition, but in the meantime check out the recording from Richard Davis' presentation during Reconciliation Week in May, co-hosted with The Northern Institute : 'Black Agriculture, White Anger: Arguments Over Aboriginal Land Use in Bruce Pascoe's "Dark Emu"'. Richard's essay on this topic will feature in the upcoming edition of the journal.
21.01.2022 We've been hard at work behind the scenes putting together our first print edition due out in July (we can't wait- it is full of incredible pieces from NT writers and artists), but in the meantime we are thrilled to be co-hosting this event on Zoom on Thursday with The Northern Institute! We will be publishing Richard Davis' essay on this same topic in our July edition. We hope to see you there!

15.01.2022 The American Association of Australasian Literary Studies welcomes submissions to our new annual fiction competition from Australian and New Zealand residents and citizens. Stories may be no more than 3,500 words in length. Creative nonfiction qualifies. The winner will be awarded: 1) US$250 prize money... 2) Publication in Antipodes journal (editorial revisions incorporated) 3) One-year subscription to Antipodes journal 4) Membership in the American Association of Australasian Literary Studies All entrants will be awarded a one-year membership in the American Association of Australasian Literary Studies. Membership includes a one-year subscription to Antipodes. Deadline 5:00pm US EST, 1 February 2021 Entry Fee 1 story $20 USD. Payments can be made online via PayPal (https://paypal.com) to [email protected]. Submission Guidelines Submit entry through Digital Commons and indicate the genre in the submission note: https://www.antipodesjournal.org/submissions Entry Conditions 1. Thanks to ABR contributor and literary doyen Glyn Davis, who gives a shout out to the first issue of Borderlands, a journal of ideas and identity from the Northern Territory, saying: 'These welcome voices from Alice Springs and Darwin bring insight and energy to an essential conversation about identity.'...
