22.01.2022 The campaign that began for the new green bins was slick enough. The brochure to Albury ratepayers began with a warning of dire consequencesvery dire indeedcatastrophic even.

20.01.2022 From the Archives: Border Watch June 2008. Mrs L.H. sent this in and she said she couldn’t help noticing that this photo of Joe Stalin waving (circa 1947) to the masses looked like he was in an architectural setting that had an uncanny resemblance to the Kiewa Street Council offices.
18.01.2022 "In January this year, it was reported through the media that Albury attracted the best part of 2 million visitors in a year, making it one of the most popular destinations on the Murray River. Indeed. It went on survey figures, showing the twin cities enjoyed a used 26.9% lift in overnight stays in the year ending September 30, compared with a year earlier. Really."
17.01.2022 Local pollies line up to bask in glory. Whether they deserve it is another thing. "It will be interesting when the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre opens later this year. No doubt some of our local members from both sides of the border will be lining up to bask in a bit of glory and their no doubt inflated contribution to getting the place built. Whether they deserve it is another thing."
05.01.2022 Slow train to Albury Wodonga. The upgrade of the North East rail line has being going on for years and years. It was never meant to be, it just happened that way. Two trains, two journeys apart. It goes without saying that all rail passengers were born equal but as Orwell said, some are more equal than othersespecially if you live in a marginal seat.

02.01.2022 "However, to understand the Coalition’s enthusiasm for selectively attempting to dismantle the age of entitlement, we should go back in history, back to Victorian England when there was much public debate of what exactly the poor and marginalised were entitled to. There were those who argued that the poor and other social outcasts had almost entirely brought about their present circumstances by their own doing. Lifestyle choices you would probably call it now.
