25.01.2022 Q&A with BorderMojo (getting to know us...) Q: Do you show your dogs. A: Yes we attended a couple of shows but no we don’t show our dogs. The nature of shows is you wait until it’s your time to show. We paid someone to help teach us what we needed to know to show Bolt and entered our first show when Bolt was younger. He looked stunning, freshly washed and brushed. However that particular show had working dogs up very last and after 4+ hours of waiting and Bolt crying when... the kids went off to play without him, we decided waiting around to run around a ring probably wasn’t for us gosh even I struggled to sit still that long :). Anyway, that was our first and last show together. I went to one before Bolt’s to see what it was all about but didn’t realise they went for so long and how much sitting and waiting was involved. Bolt has 5 acres at home and barely ever has to wear his lead. He runs with his kids and our other dogs and I think that suits him much better. He also doesn’t seem to miss the fame, and fortune he cost me getting him ready lol See more
22.01.2022 Hi all quick update for my waitlist. Pepper has not come onto heat this month that puts any litters back a month but no guarantees. We’re on her clock not ours :)
22.01.2022 We've been asked to share this so I will - such a sad story, a whole litter lost. Our aim, as is the aim of many ANKC registered breeders, is to breed happy, healthy pups always. I've said it before. There is so much more to breeding than putting two dogs together.

18.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that has called or sent us a message of late. We still aren’t planning any litters until later in the year. But to give you an indicative timeline - Pep’s might get pregnant in September, she is pregnant for on average 63 days. Pups can’t go home until they are 8 weeks old that brings us up to around Christmas. We don’t breed until we have a good waitlist of suitable parents waiting but timing is everything. If we waitlist too early and think we have... a good list of parents then we reach out we’ll find heaps of those waiting couldn’t wait (which we totally get) and have to work through a significant list with similar responses. If we waitlist too late we could end up with not enough suitable parents not sure this would happen, we always had more than less parents waiting but you can see (hopefully) why we are lax to commence our waitlist too early. I am thinking mid-July we’ll share something. Any interested parents will need to complete a questionnaire, be ready to receive a call from me potentially and understand we are hoping to keep all our pups in the Territory this round. PLUS SUPER IMPORTANT - you won’t be able to physically meet any pups until 10 days after their first vaccination at 6 weeks. Parvovirus is too prevalent in the Top End, any visits could put the whole litter at risk so we cannot take the risk. Happy to send regular photos and post updates to our page but we can’t change the rules for anyone given one pup can infect all littermates and parvo is horrible. *Insert image of Pepper enjoying her weekend spoils.
18.01.2022 Q&A with BorderMojo (getting to know us...) Q: How long have you been involved in Border Collies? A: Since birth. My parents had a mostly black but also white Border Collie called Cindy, she was the best - always rounding up my sister and I, never more than a few steps from us. When I was in my early twenties we purchased a red/white Rolex and later followed with a black/white Boston. Both ANKC registered. We had one litter but desexed Rolex after that litter. We felt the p...ups took a lot out of her, and she was our baby girl who mostly enjoyed being our baby girl. Both Boston and Rolex lived with us their whole lives, eventually moving to 5 acres in Howard Springs with us. Sadly they passed in their teens, Rolex had lymphoma which we treated 3 times with chemo but then let her go in peace. We now have 3 Border Collies - Coco and Bolt plus the new edition Pepper. Coco had 3 litters, was an awesome mum but has been retired. Pups take a lot our of a mother dog, whilst she was the most awesome mum - we decided 3 stunning litters was more than enough - Coco will stay with us always, we do not believe in retiring our dogs elswhere - she is first and foremost my kids greatest protector and sleeps in my sons bed if she isn't chasing our cat Bandit around the house. Pepper a choc/sable merle may have a litter later this year but we think she's still a bit of a lanky teenager at present so we are not in a hurry to see what kind of mum she will be - at the moment she's just a joy to hang out with, cuddle, and teach. She runs with her pack most mornings in the pine forest with my brother in law and when not cruising with her pack spends her time playing with our cat bandit, her other mate Mira (brother in laws dog) or seeing what the kids are up to. My dogs are all family first. We do have the occasional litter, and when we do we do it properly all dogs have health checks and are clear of CL, CEA and TNS and come with limited register ANKC papers. Our vet is involved in any new pups pre and post and no pups meet new owners until after they have had their 1st parvo/vaccination shot, parvo is just too scary up here. All pups are the same price no matter sex or colour, we don't breed for either - health and happy is what we aim for. We will have a waitlist and owners will have to qualify for our list, but not yet, we'll update our page when we are ready to start waitlisting for Peppers first litter. In the meantime I will try and spend more time providing updates however with 5 acres a fulltime senior role in communications and a few other hobbies sometimes finding the time can be a little tricky :)

13.01.2022 PRESS RELEASE Detection of ehrlichiosis in Northern Territory dogs 18 June 2020 The disease ehrlichiosis, an exotic tick-borne dog disease, has been confirmed in a small number of dogs in Katherine and in a remote settlement west of Alice Springs. Last month, ehrlichiosis was detected and confirmed in Western Australia’s Kimberly region, the first detection ever reported in Australia.... Ehrlichiosis occurs worldwide. Once the disease is in the brown dog tick population it’s very difficult to control, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. Ehrlichiosis is the result of the Ehrlichia canis bacteria being transmitted to dogs by the brown dog tick, which is widespread in northern Australia. Ehrlichiosis in dogs requires immediate veterinary treatment for the best chance of recovery. Prevention is the best protection for dogs as vaccinations are not presently available said Dr Susanne Fitzpatrick, Chief Veterinary Officer in the Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Division of the Department of Primary Industry and Resources. All dog owners are strongly encouraged to have their dogs on a tick control program, regularly check their dogs for ticks, and be on the lookout for signs of the disease, said Dr Fitzpatrick. Signs of infection in dogs can include fever, lethargy, anorexia, weight loss, bleeding disorders, and, if not properly treated, death. The disease can resemble other conditions in dogs with similar signs, including tick-borne diseases such as anaplasmosis and babesiosis, which are already present in the Northern Territory, so it’s vital to seek veterinary advice and treatment if you suspect your dog is showing signs of ehrlichiosis, said Dr Fitzpatrick. All NT veterinarians are being provided with information to ensure any dogs showing clinical signs consistent with the disease are sampled and tested as a precautionary measure. The Northern Territory Government has launched a community awareness campaign and is co-ordinating surveillance with Northern Territory veterinarians. The disease cannot be directly passed from infected dogs to humans. In extremely rare cases, ticks infected with Ehrlichia canis may infect people. However human ehrlichiosis is almost always caused by species other than Ehrlichia canis and these species have not yet been found in Australia. For information on human health implications associated with ticks, as well as prevention, removal and first aid advice visit the Department of Health website. Ehrlichiosis is a nationally notifiable disease. If you suspect your dog is showing signs of the disease, you must report it to your local veterinarian or the national Emergency Animal Disease Watch hotline on 1800 675 888. 13.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who reached out lately. Apologies for the short responses, I work in emergency communications and have been kept quite busy of late. At this stage we are not planning any litters until much later in the year. Pepper is still very much a pup herself plus we need to ensure we have access to our vet to come to our home to check on any new arrivals and mum - health of all our dogs is first and foremost. We also don't plan our waitlists too early. We don't ...breed without a waitlist and if I start creating too early when pups are born the waitlist is moot as people have found babies already. We aim not to bring puppies into this world without suitable homes already waiting for them. 07.01.2022 Apologies for delays in getting around to opening our waitlist. We were waiting for hip scores to be returned from the vet for Miss Pepper and the vet we used to take the scans (our usual vet is not allowed to take any more Xrays) made a complete muddle of the process. Forgetting forms, forgetting to send scans, the list goes on. No I would not recommend them however luckily for any BorderMojo pup, owners come with our vet of 20 years who we absolutely adore. Anyway, wi...th scores received we are happy to progress to the next stage. I’ll post something later this week letting people know what they need to do to get on our waitlist. This post is to give those who have already contacted us time to recommence paying attention to our posts :) Thanks everyone for your patience. Please remember as per our previous advice shared - we are aiming to keep this next litter local, in the NT with a preference given to families in the Darwin/Palmerston/Rural area.
