09.01.2022 HELP STOP THE PIGEONS; Lithgow Council asks for the Communities help in stopping Pigeons gathering in the Cook Street Plaza. This week Council installed a numbe...r of signs throughout Cook Street Plaza requesting that pedestrians please stop feeding the pigeons, Lithgow City Council Mayor, Ray Thompson said. Council staff work hard to continue cleaning our Main Street, and they do a fantastic job. However, as pigeons are the main contributor to a messy footpath, business owners are rightly concerned to see some locals continuing to feed them. I would like to ask all of our residents to please stop feeding the pigeons, and if they see anyone else doing so, politely ask them to stop. Council continues to consider the feasibility of pigeon control measures, however the most effective control is the removal of their food source.
