17.01.2022 On a beautifully mild autumnal afternoon, the Cobras 3rds took on Richmond Union CC in the 2 day Grand Final today at Victoria Road Reserve. The Tiges won the toss and batted. With tight bowling and good field placements, the Cobras rattled through the opponents after 68 overs for 112. The boys were led by the youngster Dan Gambell who enjoyed the gentle easterly cross breeze coming from the Grummitt/Power side to assist his left arm medium hoops and was rewarded with a Michelle 5fa for his work. Well done young man - a great performance. And a great team performance as well. With the outfield looking a treat and fast courtesy of the Boroondara Council and a strong batting line up, we have high hopes that the 3rds can bring home the silverware for the Club. Go Cobras !

09.01.2022 Dear all members of the Cobra family and friends, It is with a heavy heart that the Committee of the Boroondara Cricket Club informs you of the terribly sad news that one of our loyal and devoted Cobra family, Andrew Francis, passed away last Friday, 27 September 2019, after a really tough battle with cancer. Many of you knew Andrew well. He was an integral part of our 12As premiership season in 2016/17 playing the role of deputy, assistant and confidante to the coach. Af...ter having already played two seasons of senior cricket with the club from 2015/16, Andrew became an active and enthusiastic member of the father / son Cobras teams in 2017/18 + 2018/19 which enabled him to have the opportunity to play cricket with his son, Murray. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Muzzs cricket and took great joy in watching him play whether in the Under 14As or with the seniors or with the ECA Representative side last summer. Andrew enjoyed playing cricket and he enthusiastically deployed his favourite hook shot for 6 through backward square leg even when the ball had pitched a foot outside off stump bringing wild applause and cheers from the players in the One Day Firsts (as he liked to call the team) on the boundary and bemusement on the opponents faces. He was a very handy medium pace bowler as well. When the Club needed someone to step up & help co-ordinate the junior section of the Club, it was Andrew who took on the role of Junior Manager last season for 2018/19 with great aplomb assisting, organising and arranging the successful operation of our 20 odd junior teams including the Clubs new girls section. His enthusiasm, professionalism, leadership and commitment to the role of Junior Manager was a pleasure to watch & from my own personal perspective, the support he gave me was nothing short of fantastic & I greatly appreciated his advice & friendship; as I know many of you did. And his love for his family shone through. He was clearly devoted to his wife Mariko, daughter Rei, and his son Murray. Vale Andrew Francis A son, brother, husband, father, friend, colleague, coach, administrator, cricket tragic. So loved, So missed, Much given and still much to give. Andrew will be sadly missed at the Cobras and we extend our sincere sympathies and condolences to Mariko, Murray and Rei. Rest In Peace Regards Michael Bingley President Boroondara Cricket Club

09.01.2022 Josh Frydenberg, Treasurer of Australia and member for Kooyong, has pledged $25,000 to held build additional training nets at Victoria Road Reserve should the Coalition win the Federal election. Josh recently visited the Club where he had an impromptu session with junior players Harriet & Gus Syme and Sarah & Charlie Grummitt (see attached). Joshs support is greatly appreciated by the Club as we push to improve our training facilities and ensure that as we grow, all our play...ers are able to train at our home ground. Based on subsequent discussions with Boroondara Council this second set of nets could be built within the next 12 months. With 21 junior sides & 5 senior teams, Boroondara Cricket Club is a local sporting powerhouse. A re-elected Coalition Government will provide more nets for this fast-growing Club Josh Frydenberg https://boroondaracc.com//josh-frydenberg-pledges-25000-f/

08.01.2022 The Mighty Cobras are pleased to announce that Season 2020/21 is open for registrations. Time to join up now and beat the rush ! http://www.boroondaracc.com.au/cobras-season-2020-21/

07.01.2022 Under grey skies the u10 King Cobras commenced their 2020/21 cricket season fielding a team of 7, 8 and 9 year olds with 4 first year players and 4 seasoned ‘veterans’ from last season. One of four u10 teams for the Boroondara Cobras this season, the Club has preferred a mix of players in each team of differing age, experience and schools rather than a friends/school based set of teams. The King Cobras also added a buddy system to the mix for their team this season so that new first year players were buddied with seasoned ‘veterans’ who played last season to befriend the novices and ‘show them the ropes’. A great experiment enjoyed by all new and ‘veteran’ players (and their parents) alike. Go Cobras!

06.01.2022 Cobra Army out in force at Season Opener 2019/2020 ! Go Cobras !!

04.01.2022 Its with great pleasure that the Boroondara Cricket Club announces that the Bendigo Bank has come on board as a local community sponsor of the club. Their support is greatly appreciated & we hope that our players, parents & friends in the future see the benefits that the Bendigo Bank relationship shall provide to the Cobra Community. GO COBRAS

03.01.2022 With the 2019 Christmas pudding tucked away, thoughts turn to the run home for the Boroondara CCs teams this 2019/20 season and the possibility of some silverware filling the Victoria Road Clubrooms at seasons end. Were pleased to report that many of our teams are in finals contention and are having terrific seasons to date. We have 8 teams sitting in their top fours (3rd XI, 16B King Cobras, 16B Rattlesnakes, 14A Macmillan, 14B Dalling, 12B Blue, 12C Blue and 12C Green). ...And we have plenty of teams either outside their top fours on % only (12B Yellow, 14C Browning) or within one win of breaking into their top fours (1st XI, 2nd XI, LOC 4, 16As, Vets). Bragging rights go to three teams who are perched atop their respective competitions ladders - 3rd XI, 16B King Cobras and 14A Macmillan. There is plenty to play for in the dash to March 2020 for our teams to emulate the fine performances of the Stage 1 and 2 Girls teams who finished their pre Xmas seasons 3rd and 2nd respectively. Best of luck Cobras for the remainder of this great season so far! See more
