21.01.2022 The BSB are proud to own a number of instruments which are free for anyone to use so if you would like to come along for a play and don't own your own instrument we may have one for you to borrow. We have just got our trumpet serviced and cleaned up so if you or your child would like to give trumpeting a go in the new year, we would love to hear from you!
20.01.2022 We had a fantastic day today entertaining the crowds at Bunnings Hawthorn! The weather was perfect and we were conveniently positioned next to the sausage sizzle! This was our final gig for the year, so thanks to everyone who supported us during the year by coming along to our concerts, playing in the band or supporting us in other ways! We hope you all have a very happy and safe holiday season and look forward to seeing you all in 2020!

10.01.2022 We are in full swing preparing for our upcoming concert on Sunday 8th December featuring Tchaikovsky's glorious music from the Nutcracker. We hope to see you there at this free concert! To continue our introduction of the friendly and talented players of the band, lets meet trumpet player Claire Ferguson. Claire began her musical studies on piano at the age of 8 and started playing the trumpet at the age of 12. In 1992, she joined the Balwyn Youth Concert Band (which later b...ecame BSB) and has been a member of the band for much of the last 28 years, mostly on trumpet but also on French horn, piano, percussion, as assistant conductor and treasurer. Claire directed and conducted the Sounds of a Century concert in 2014 as well as many community gigs over the years. Outside BSB, Claire has played in many community bands and orchestras including musical theatre productions, performed as part of the opening ceremony for the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and has performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra twice as part of their Symphony in a Day. Claire is currently teaching her 3 year-old son various instruments and hopes he will join the band one day! See more

05.01.2022 Our Spring Colours concert was a roaring success and such a great day, we decided to take some pre-concert group photos in the lovely gardens at the newly renovated Holy Trinity Church Kew. Many thanks to our appreciative audience, guest players and conductor/composer David Keeffe who put together a wonderful program of colourful wind band hits and entertained us with insightful commentary between pieces. We also took the opportunity to award our president Sallyanne Kibble a BSB Life Membership and thank her for her many years as clarinet player, committee member and president.
