20.01.2022 IT ONLY TAKES ONE In South Australia we had no community cases for 200 odd days.. and then it appears. We knew there were cases in the quarantine hotels but they were just that - in quarantine! And then an elderly lady turns up at a hospital with respiratory system and is proven COVID positive. 18.01.2022 BACK TO GROUND ZERO - STAY ALERT STAY AWARE Hi all.. Okay so we're back to being vigilant again.. only one case overnight from the same family but it looks like they were all infected around the same time and if they've passed it on then new cases may not present until a few days later..... In the meantime when you ring for a consult we will ask you a few questions.. Do you have a temperature, sore throat, viral symptoms? If so we’ll phone consult you and arrange for you to be seen at the Covid Clinic. The Nurses there will check your temperature, pulse and oxygen levels as well as doing the swab. If they think you need to be seen by a doctor they will call us up to see you in one of the safe rooms in the Hospital Emergency Department. You will need to isolate yourself while you have symptoms and until the swab result returns. Once you have a clear swab we can review you in the Viral room at the Practice. Have you been in Adelaide in the last 7 days? If so we’ll ask you to wear a mask and be seen in the viral room. I know this sounds a bit over the top but this virus gets a 3-5 day head start before the infections become apparent.. and last thing we all want - including our patients - is for the practice to be shut down for because all our staff have been exposed. This is Adelaide we're talking about so could easily come our way.. Even I've been in Adelaide within the timeframe - but I've checked all the contact tracing locations and haven't been to any Thanks for helping keep everyone safe. It's a community effort. 15.01.2022 THE 8TH DAY OF THE WEEK This week I was given a gift. A very precious gift. I was given time! 7 hours to be precise. And it was perhaps one of the nicest 7 hours I have had.
