22.01.2022 Little Green Landscapes are proud to have stood on the design team with @andreaproctorlandscapes , lead by #andrewlaidlaw for the new Sensory Garden at the @royalbotanicgardensvic Here are some photos of it being constructed plus insights into its context and design. Nestled on Princes Lawn at the edge of Central Lake will sit the new Sensory Garden. The garden was designed as the final stage of the Fern Gully Restoration Project. Paths lead you through a series of immersi...ve plant experiences, highlighting beautiful aspects and views. A plant and materials palate brimming with colour, scent, form, and textures, from which a myriad of sounds spring forth. Water is an ever-present element, flowing through to the lake from the fern gully. Across rock riffles, you can enjoy from the new footbridge. With 7 varieties of Thyme alone, on the extensive plant list, showcasing many deliciously scented plants. With immersive, stands of bamboo. Echoing the fun of the children’s garden, but in a more grown up realm, because all ages need spaces to play or pause. Designed with accessibility at the fore, for visitors with special needs, creating a range of spaces to support people with physical, mental and cognitive limitations. Featuring multiple seating areas, from open-air communal rock seats, room for two or solitude on the Lotus Jetty or undercover at the Fern Gully Rest House. You’ll find a place to reflect in this ever-changing world. United these elements aim to create something remarkable, to offer a new perspective within one of Victorias most loves gardens. As Tim says Planting and prettying up begins in a few weeks I hope this taster makes you as excited as I am to visit this place when it opens. No project happens without many great contributions. This recent renovation holds the Australian portion (Fields collection) of plant material collected by #harryblossfeld on his 1936-38 expedition through South America. The garden designed by #andrewlaidlaw is a series of garden beds and paths with the shapes inspired by both the original layout and plant cells and their walls Images ...
