24.01.2022 Let’s talk about Collagen! Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body, It helps provide structure & strength to skin, bones, tendons , cartilage, connective tissue and teeth. Think of collagen as the glue that holds together all of your connective tissues in the body, without collagen tissues can weaken and the ageing process can be accelerated. Supplementation.... Collagen supplements are generally derived from bovine (cow sources) . However, vegan sources do exist and are derived from soy or legumes, there isn’t however as much existing research on their efficacy. Most collagen supplements are made from hydrolysed collagen, which means they are broken down in to smaller easy to digest particles. 21.01.2022 THE FERTILE WINDOW Did you know that you are only really fertile for 7 days throughout your cycle? This is what is known as the fertile window which occurs 5 days prior to ovulation & 2 days after ovulation. This is because sperm has the ability to survive inside the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days. This essentially means that sperm can wait for the egg. However 48 hours after ovulation a woman is no longer able to fall pregnant because the egg is no longer in... the Fallopian tubes and actually disintegrates & is absorbed back in to the body. 21.01.2022 Vitamin D Is so very important for optimal health, it plays an integral role in bone growth/maintenance, immunity and gene expression. Low vitamin D levels are common in autoimmune conditions and poor immunity, as well as rickets in children and osteoporosis in adults. Vitamin D can be obtained from two sources. From food in animal based products and from the synthesis of sunlight. ... Vitamin D absorption from sunlight occur when a cholesterol precursor stored in the skin is exposed to UV light and produces precholecalciferol. Precholecalciferol then forms cholecalciferol (the scientific name for vitamin D3). Vitamin D3 is stored within the body in the liver, adipose tissue and muscle . However for the body to utilise stored vitamin D it requires adequate magnesium & for the Vitamin D to be absorbed in the first place adequate cholesterol is also needed. To increase your Vitamin D levels expose your face and arms to 15 minutes of UV-B rays daily.
