22.01.2022 Today we're going to get to know the Founder of Bottoms Up Colonics Let's meet SUE Sue Wilson founded Bottoms Up in 2004. With a lifelong passion for helping people, she has spent the last almost 20 years teaching and helping people in the area of gut health.... Sue initially learned closed colonics after her life-changing experiences with this therapy. Showing Sue that the gut was a lot more than where food waste is stored. Sue opened her first clinic just north of Mackay and now she owns clinics in Mackay, Moranbah, Proserpine old Reynella (SA), Nerang and Maroochydore. Bottoms Up technique and protocols such as our parasite cleanse are well known and received with clients returning after many years. Another passion of Sues has been food. Creating her label Cultured Cuisine which provides a range of ferments to heal and restore the gut. If Sue is not in the clinic, or in the kitchen you will find her at a nearby beach or waterfall

21.01.2022 Cold water... great for you in lots of ways, but - not so great for your tummy! Did you know that drinking chilled water can actually inhibit proper digestion? Try drinking room temperature water when you can, your tummy will thank you for it :)

20.01.2022 Fast Fact Friday 1 in 20 Australians have a bowel control problem Bowel control problems are more common than you think. About 1 in 20 people experience a bowel control problem and it affects both men and women. It's more common as you get older, but young people can also have poor bowel control.

20.01.2022 Number one on our list of 'How to Survive the Festive Season' is an oldie but a goodie - DRINK PLENTY OF WATER More importantly good quality water. Why is this more important for recovery? Because when you over indulge in alcohol and the next morning use coffee as a pick me up you are dehydrating your body and in particular your brain and liver. Imagine a dried prune (eeww). ... So give yourself filtered water to pump it up again, you will be amazed at the energy you find.

20.01.2022 Colonic hydrotherapy or colonic cleansing gently flushes your colon of toxins and accumulated waste while keeping your body hydrated and stable. But what is a colonic I can hear you asking, what actually happens? The cleanse lasts for about 45 minutes to an hour. We use the closed colonic hydration method which your therapist performs while you lie on a massage bed. A speculum with inlet and outlet tubing attached is inserted and this allows a steady and slow cleansing fl...ush with continuous water flow. Along with the water we include herbal or nutrient-based implants so your body gets a boost of nutrients. During the flush, your therapist will massage your abdomen with pure grade aromatherapy oils. After your treatment, you can expect to feel clean, empty, refreshed, energetic, light and clear-headed. Your tummy will be flat and you may also find that you lose up to 3 or 4 kilos from a single treatment. For more information contact one of our wonderful therapists today.

17.01.2022 Merry Christmas to you all May the Christmas season fill your home with joy, your heart with love, and your life with laughter.

16.01.2022 Happy New Year! We spend January 1st walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives...not looking for flaws, but for potential.

15.01.2022 Nothing makes us happier than helping our clients feel revitalised, rejuvenated and refreshed Here’s what Sueann has told us about her experience with Bottoms Up Colonics

13.01.2022 With only 2 days until Christmas we thought we'd give you some quick tips on how to to keep a healthy balance over Christmas and avoid the typical "Christmas Traps" that you may regret 1. Have Fun The holidays are all about family and friends. Stop thinking about food and concentrate on socialising. Think about what you're celebrating and how much you’ve waited for these moments to arrive. Enjoy some snacks, but don't focus on that entirely. ... 2. Be Realistic Christmas isn’t the best time to start a new diet or workout routine. Don’t try to lose weight during the holidays because you’ll probably fail - let's be real. Try to plan time for exercise, eat mindfully, and make smart food choices. 3. Make Smart Food Choices (at least some of the time) Who says that you must give up your favourite foods to stay healthy? You can easily cut unnecessary items out without sacrificing taste by swapping out a few ingredients. Choose your food wisely. Get plenty of rest before the event and don’t have an empty stomach. Studies indicate that people who sleep less than seven hours a night eat up to 300 more calories and tend to choose higher-calorie foods than those who get enough rest. 4. Consider Your Health Most Christmas foods are packed with fats, gluten, sugar, salt and other ingredients that may not be good for you. Also, be careful with beverage consumption. BALANCE the alcohol and food consumption and above all HAVE FUN!

13.01.2022 Fast Fact Friday # 12. Food takes 12 to 48 hours to make its way through the colon Many people believe that the food that they eat comes out in the next bowel movement. It actually can take quite some time for food to make its way through the entire length of your digestive system.... This length of time is known as transit time and can be measured through the use of a colonic transit time test. Interestingly, average transit times can be very different depending on the population being studied. Factors that affect transit time include race, gender, typical diet, and amount of physical activity. Transit time longer than 72 hours is generally seen as indicative of a possible bowel disorder.

12.01.2022 It's time to sort out your gut! Do you know all the ways your gut health effects other areas of your health? Head to our blog to learn a little more about it!

08.01.2022 Why do we have to talk about poo? Because it is about health and wellbeing, auto intoxication, and disease that could be preventable. Your colon is like a compost and you don't want to walk around with rotten compost inside ... So to have a good poo, drink water, it's like a lubricant for your bowel, eat fibre from vegetables not grains, eat fermented food and reduce stress. If you don't reduce stress in your life your bowel will shut up shop - true story. You should be having at least one movement a day - are you?

08.01.2022 We hear often about all of the environmental toxins that we should be careful of in cleaning products, makeups, skin creams, body moisturisers, heavy metals, etc But what about internal toxins that we manufacture ourselves? Such as the toxins stored in our fat cells causing inflammation which has the potential to cause not just weight issues but chronic disease ... Today, scientists have discovered that body fat is much more than a storage system. Overfed fat cells can directly increase your risk for diseases like cancer, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and can also trigger an immune response that leads to systemic inflammation in the body. Colon Therapy can help and in particular the Rojas method that Bottoms Up uses. This goes directly to the site of toxicity and removes it, it is the Rolls Royce of detox’s, it’s like a one month cleanse in an hour. For more information contact one of our local clinics: www.bottomsupcolonics.com.au

08.01.2022 Fast Fact Friday #13. Your colon is never empty. Many people believe that they have emptied out their colons after multiple bouts of diarrhea or that they can keep their colon empty by avoiding food.... However, since stool is made up in large part of bacteria, fecal matter is continuously being formed. In addition to bacteria, the stool is made up of liquid, undigested food, dietary fiber, fat, minerals, and protein.

01.01.2022 Fast Fact Friday # 11. The main types of fat found in food are: saturated fats... unsaturated fats A small amount of fat is an essential part of a healthy, balanced diet. Fat is a source of essential fatty acids, which the body cannot make itself. Fat helps the body absorb vitamin A, vitamin D and vitamin E. These vitamins are fat-soluble, which means they can only be absorbed with the help of fats. Most fats and oils contain both saturated and unsaturated fats in different proportions. As part of a healthy diet, you should try to cut down on foods and drinks that are high in saturated fats and trans fats and replace some of them with unsaturated fats.
