19.01.2022 An excellent program on SBS's Insight program last night. Shining a light on the experience of so many veterinarians (and veterinary nurses in many respects) in Australia. Did you know: - As many as 50% of qualified veterinarians drop-out or burn-out of the profession within 5-10 years - The suicide rate for veterinarians is 4 times the national average... They do their absolute best every day and often behind their smile and high work ethic have dealt with very challenging circumstances just mere moments ago before moving on to tackle yet more. We are proud to put the health and wellbeing of our veterinarians and veterinary nurses first with the way we practice and always strive to do better. We know so many have had more than enough time at home already, but we can all spend this time guilt-free doing nothing. Doing our bit by having a quiet one this year.... An enormous shout out to our human healthcare counterparts on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as all of the others working amongst the population at risk to themselves and their loved ones such as police, public transport staff, goods transport staff, supermarket workers, pharmacists, food delivery people, teachers, government coordinators and other public servants and the many many more out there.
