21.01.2022 COVID has done everything to try and stop our 2020 season. But there has been a slight glimmer that has come from this. Never have we had the chance to use our vessel privately as she is a work boat. Bounty would of headed north at the start of September and would of already been hunting out Big Julie. 20.01.2022 It takes alot of time and effort to fish juniors. There are rules that strictly must be followed with out question.. Our juniors couldnt fish if they couldnt do the following..... - Lift the rod out the gunnels themselves. - Wind in their own fish. - Only give up if they are happy for the fish to be disqualified. - Only be grabbed if they are in Imminent danger.. (one year Ribbons was scary rough and I remember we grabbed our juniors back buckle on her gamble belt so she didn't go over...) We learnt from Darren Hayden - Biggles plenty of tips and he was always our toughest coach yet we all learnt good practice fast. 14.01.2022 HUGE congratulations to our junior Lily Tagged 6 Black marlins taking out Cairns Bluewater Junior Champion for 2020... As well as last bill fish day 2 Lily fished very well and was up there equal with Champion male who tagged 6 Champion female tagged 7. It was a great 2 days for our team and was full of adventures as always. Both our anglers fished very well and didnt give up the fight. To achieve this is always a full team effort. 10.01.2022 HUGE EFFORT TODAY Today our junior had the fight of her life. She hooked up a Black Marlin on 2kg line about 9.30am... She then battled the marlin for just over 7 LONG hours. With very limited updates I was very nervous and waiting as a land based mum wondering how she was going... The seas were rough. She had to dig in deep and fought right too the end. I don't know the details as didnt get that far tonight on our phone call.. but all I know is that I couldn't be prouder of our daughter who has done a battle bigger than most have ever done. I also could not be happier than to have her under the guidance of @deanfordpup at the helm. Great effort skip!! Unfortunately it was cracked off... but I already can't wait to hear the stories that will come from this.. @sims.lily this one got away but the next one better watch out as you are now 7 hours fighting ready and prepared and wiser!! 09.01.2022 Ultra light fishing takes a full team to work together, adding on the next layer of record claiming and things get even harder. Many many hours have been put in by our junior. She has fished in 20knots on average most days and had done some mammoth efforts in the burning sun over many weeks. It takes a persistent angler who has a feel for the delicate line as it drops in line class and has endless persistence.... It takes a patient, calm and supportive skipper who helps talk the angler through. It takes fearless crew as things happen super fast when the time is right.. It takes a weigh master who is always available. It takes tackle support who chase supplies and test lines. It takes an encouraging fishing club cheering her on. It takes great behind the scenes support. Organising weigh master, chasing the tackle, getting the paper work together with all documented evidence. There is also our social media support help. Importantly there is also an entire circle of fleet fishing industry and family support behind our epic adventures who have been amazing. Each one of these plays a huge part to getting up the next day and trying again. These are altogether a complicated process. As well as working out while on the line if this is actually THE fish.. Due to COVID our whole world is strange this season and this has never been an option as we are normally #heavytackle fishing. The team is excited and good to go today for the 11am start.
