24.01.2022 This term Year 11 Aboriginal Studies students have been focusing on links to the community and what support is out there for Indigenous youth. As a part of R U OK? Day, students realised that not everybody's path is the same and visually represented it through their artworks. Great work Year 11!

21.01.2022 This week Year 10 students received their senior school prospectus booklet. This is the first step in formalising plans for Year 11 and 12. Mrs McCorkle will be in touch with families to help them individually plan their child's transition into Year 11 2021.

17.01.2022 R U OK? Sometimes it can be scary to ask the question. On R U OK? Day, take the time to find out how to ask the question, and how to look after yourself so you stay OK too. https://www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

17.01.2022 Each Friday for the past year (minus Midterm breaks and the Covid learn from home period) Year 7 Healing Foundation (Yarning Circle) meet at this time. They begin each session with an Acknowledgement of Country. They have improved tremendously over the year (from plenty of practice in Yr 7 Dear) The girls tell stories, yarn about a vast array of things. Last term they completed a photoshoot. They painted their faces and made flower crowns from Knife Edged Wattle, Red Floweri...ng Gum, Callistemon, Grevillia and some other treasures from the levee bank. They followed all pose instructions without complaints ("look serious", "look up", most were not a fan of "do big eyes") The girls were asked afterwards how it made them feel. Their responses were- "it made me feel strong and powerful", "I felt shame but happy", "it was empowering", "it let my soul show", "felt proud and positive", "felt good about myself" and "I felt confident" There are NO "filters" or "duck lip pouts" here, just some young ladies beaming and working on their self esteem. - Miss Smith and Missie (Melissa Prince) See more

They all completed marbled and ink book covers for their VAPD's and art theory books next year. Plus completed some art writing too! - Miss Smith (I'm looking forward to creating with you all next year!)

14.01.2022 He was an incredibly positive role model for our young people and was integral in creating the original B-Town Warriors which we still celebrate. I still have a photo of Michael with our young blokes at the base of Mt Oxley on the wall in my office to mark a tremendous time in the lives of young people in Bourke which he helped create. For a little man he made a massive difference and will be sadly missed and forever remembered. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends, Toby Finlayson and the DPM crew. Vale Boomali. There is a special on NITV celebrating his contributions and skill tonight at 8:30pm. Bourke High School would like to send our condolences to the family of Micheal Graham aka BOOMALI who helped to guide our BTOWN Warriors to express their voice

14.01.2022 Congratulations to the Bourke High School Class of 2020 who graduated last night. Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions it couldn't be celebrated in person with family, friends and the wider school community. Instead for the first time ever in school history our year 12 students were treated to a floating graduation onboard the Jandra. Wearing new caps and gowns our wonderful students celebrated the culmination of their time at Bourke High School and made memories that will last a lifetime. A huge thankyou to Mrs Ryder for her hard work behind the scenes to make this special night happen and to Ms Smith for her spectacular photography on the night that is showcased here. Stay tuned for excerpts from the live broadcast shot by Joanie that will be up soon.
