21.01.2022 It's National Science Week, and we are celebrating with some fun online activities. Check out our website, www.bourkelibrary.com.au, for science escape rooms for adults and kids. Once you've solved the escape room, bring the solution to the library to collect your prize! We also have a colouring in competition for the kids. 14.01.2022 Bourke Public Library is open again and welcomes everyone back to the library. The library is open from Monday 1st June, with limited hours. On Monday 1st and Tuesday 2rd June the library will open for 2 hours from 11:00am to 1:00pm while we ensure we have everything in place to make the library safe for staff and customers. From Wednesday 3rd June the library will be open from11:00am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday, with an extra hour on Mondays from 10:00am to 11:00am and on Thu...rsdays from 3:00pm to 4:00pm for seniors only. While the library was physically closed, there were many online offerings to enjoy including virtual storytime, online book club, ebooks, Zoom craft and more. Although some of these offerings were only temporary, library users can always access eBooks, eAudio and eMags through Borrowbox, RB Digital and indyreads, as well as our many online databases. While the library was physically closed, we still had 36 people join the library online, 525 visits to our website, 148 eBook loans, 59 new Facebook page likes, and our Facebook posts had 1212 engagements. Now that its open again you can find many new titles on the shelves, a calendar of full of fun and dynamic programs and much more. 07.01.2022 Bourke Public Library is seeking photos of servicemen and women from Bourke. At the moment we are particularly after those who served in WWII, although we are interested in any of the wars. We are looking to compile the data and photos, and will be putting together a slideshow like the one we created for WWI. If anyone has any photos they are willing to give us a copy of, it would be greatly appreciated.
