24.01.2022 Some of the most common mistakes we see in our industry are: PT's giving all their clients the same workout (your clients are not all the same and don't all have the same goal) Training clients with the same methods and intensity that you train yourself because it works for you (your client is not you)... Giving clients a different workout every time they come to training (entertaining not training) Keeping clients on the same workout for too long (boring and leads to stagnation) Copy and pasting workouts from instagram (lazy) Making up workouts on the spot that don't tie into the last or the next program (random) These methods will only work for so long before your clients realise they aren't making progress, and that perhaps you don't know what you are doing. If you are reading this post than its obvious that you don't want to be that trainer and want to make a reputable career doing the thing that you love. 24.01.2022 This is a great example of a mixed short-interval workout. It's really fun*. You can perform it on the treadmill or track, stationary bike, rower or assault bike. You will need to know your best sustained power or speed over 5-minutes. And you will aim to keep all intervals just... above this speed or power. After a progressive 10-minute warm-up, perform 8 minutes of 40-seconds ON with 20-seconds OFF, rest 2-minutes, then 8 minutes of 30-seconds ON with 15-seconds OFF, rest 2-minutes, then 8 minutes of 20-seconds ON with 10-seconds OFF, rest 2-minutes, then cool down for 5-minutes. *Not fun at all #intervaltraining #hiitworkout #hiit #homeworkout @boutagy_fitness

The live lectures are held at 3pm AEST every Monday for 10 weeks. Each lecture goes for approximately 60-90mins and includes a Q & A segment at the end. "I can't make the live lectures at that time" You don't need to. Every lecture is recorded and uploaded to your training portal, so you can play it back as a video or audio file at your leisure. 20.01.2022 To perform the world's best quadriceps stretch or WBQS, as I like to call it, follow the...umm...following steps: 1. Place a pillow on the ground next to the couch or a wall (or even better, a Swiss ball); 2. Position your knee as close as possible to the couch, making sure your ankle, knee and hip are in alignment;... 3. Rotate the pelvis underneath, adopting a "posterior pelvic tilt". Lean back at the same time. 4. Take 6-8 deep abdominal breaths. 5. Reach the arm of the same side of the stretching leg up and across the head, leaning to that side you are reaching and take a another 6-8 deep breaths. #stretch #recovery #quadriceps

16.01.2022 Traditionally, interval training would be incorporated twice a week into your training plan to allow for complete recovery between sessions. Block periodisation is an alternative way of manipulating the training... intensity/volume distribution. It essentially involves an overload week, providing more intensity than to which the body can adjust, causing maladaption and overreaching. Then with some properly structured rest for a few weeks, the body super compensates and the fitness increase is greater than one would see if they trained in a traditional manner. Block periodisation involves performing 5 sessions in a row of HIIT, then three weeks of low intensity work and only one HIIT session a week. The lockdown period provides a perfect to time experiment with such intense training models that the normal work/training life just would simply not allow. Here is what I did for my 5-day block: Session 1: 3 x (8 x 40s ON, 20s OFF, rest 2 minutes) Session 2: 6 x 3.5 minutes ON, 1.5 minutes OFF Session 3: 3 x (8 x 40s ON, 20s OFF, rest 2 minutes) Session 4: 3 x 7 minutes ON with 3 minutes OFF Session 5: 3 x (8 x 40s ON, 20s OFF, rest 2 minutes) I'll have 3 easy weeks now, with one HIIT session a week, then start another block. 05.01.2022 My preferred thoracic mobilisation exercise is performed in the hip flexor stretch position. Ideally, you will lock the front knee against the wall with a short foam roller, but it's not necessary. Reach forward with the outside arm and then row it back, staying horizontal to the ground. Once the elbow is back as far as it will go, extend the... elbow and reach back, keeping your eyes on your hand and maximimizing the rotation in the thoracic spine. Retrace you steps back until your arm is reaching forward again. Perform 10 times on each side, sung your breath to go a little further each time.
