25.01.2022 Bucking recent trends towards black and white sails its seems that colour is a winning move again, if the eight MC38s racing on Sydney Harbour today are anything to go by. From some distance it appears that Race 1 had a General Recall before getting away. It looked like Lazy Dog (red kite), Dark Star (blue kite) and Ginger (red kite), led all the remaining white kites downwind from the top mark. At the Race 2 start it looked like InfoTrack was OCS and restarted. Again the coloured kites seemed to be occupying top positions at the top mark. Too far away to tell who won both races.

24.01.2022 From the Archives of 2018 Another highlight from HIRW, Marcus Blackmore’s Hooligan was enjoying a fast downwind run. Impressive teamwork on display. Hamilton Island Race Week #Hamo#HIRW. .

22.01.2022 After last year's cancellation of the Grinders SOLAS Big Boat Race due to bushfire smoke, this year's race could not have been more of a contrast. Bright sunshine, crystal clear blue skies and a sharp sou'easter to fire up some great action! The Bow Caddy Team got into the thick of it to get these images. 22.01.2022 The predicted southerly took a while to find its feet at the start of today's Audi Centre Sydney Bluewater Points Score on Sydney Harbour. The fleet was gybing some big angles in light airs down the harbour before the southerly finally kicked in as the front of the fleet reached South Head, giving a fast reach to North Head. There was then a large split to the rest of the fleet. As at 4pm today Sean Langman's RP69 Moneypenny was leading the fleet home off Broken Bay with 20nm to the finish. 19.01.2022 With our filming abandoned on the Manly Yacht Club's Helly Hansen Women’s Challenge and Bow Caddy all packed and ready to roll we ventured down to Bradley’s Head to see if the MC38s were sailing. Indeed they were and we caught some of the action in the very wet, cold and windy conditions.

18.01.2022 From the Archives of 2018 one of our favourite videos from the CYCA’s Blue Water series was the Newcastle Bass Island Race. The gentle breeze and quickly fading light made it challenging to shoot many of the entrants prior to darkness setting in. A great piece of music sets off this moody video. It won’t be long until September when this year’s Blue Water Series starts bring it on! Cruising Yacht Club Of Australia

18.01.2022 A cloudy start to the morning of the Bird Island Race, with the prospect of a building southerly during the late morning. The Bow Caddy team will be out on the water and plan to report live on Facebook from the harbour shortly before the 10am start. Cruising Yacht Club Of Australia #birdislandrace

17.01.2022 From the archives of 2019 With the disappointing news of Hamilton Island Race Week 2020 being cancelled, we thought we’d share one of our favourite videos from last year Bumblebee 4. Our cameraman Jake Price was lucky enough to be on board for a great day on the water with a solid breeze. Social distancing wasn't even a thought. Thanks @Scooter Eaton and the crew of Bumblebee 4. 17.01.2022 It's quite a challenge to pick your 10 favourite images from 15 years+ of sailing photography. But it was very flattering to be asked to do so by Sails Magazine this week. Thanks Scott and team for the opportunity. SAILS Magazine

16.01.2022 In our attempt a week or so ago to keep the hospitality and tourism industry alive in NSW, we ventured up the coast to Port Stephens for a short stay at the lovely Anchorage Resort & Spa. Coming home through the Newcastle docklands, the sight of a very tall carbon mast caught our eye and we pulled over to see Infotrack in the Marina followed by ZEN in the Midcoast Boatyard. We also caught today the Farr 40 version of ZEN competing in the Middle Harbour Racing. Middle Harbour Yacht Club Cruising Yacht Club Of Australia Zen Racing

16.01.2022 Very proud of my extremely gorgeous husband Crosbie Lorimer for being presented the 2020 President’s award from the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects NSW. Crosbie works tirelessly in many areas; as MD of CLOUSTON Associates, a Landscape Architecture practice with offices in Sydney and Darwin; running the annual Professional Practice seminars for graduate LAs; a speaker for Beyond Blue; his love of sailing and the partnership we have together as Bow Caddy Media; his volunteering for Manly Sailability and finally as my husband and partner in life. Very proud of you and what you have achieved on all fronts.

14.01.2022 From the Archives - Cabbage Tree Island Race 2019 - Black Jack heading back towards Sydney to take out line honours. 11.01.2022 When your rating doesn't mean much! A strange finish to today's Australia Day Race to Botany Bay and back. A fleet of more than 50 yachts headed to sea in a bui...lding nor'easter this morning They had a fast run there and were back by lunchtime, until things went a little pear shaped in view of the finish line. Gweilo had a handsome lead on the rest of the frontrunners and was heading into the Harbour on a fast fetch until she ran into a weird and large hole with absolutely no wind, parked just north of South Head (definitely not a wind shadow). She watched as the following yachts tried to go around the outside, but they also got caught in the growing hole! Eventually, Gweilo got away and made slow progress under kite to the finish line in Watson's Bay. For the next half hour the rest of the front runners wallowed around in the hole, at times even heading back out to sea in an attempt to escape. Finally, they worked their way slowly south to the finish, with the hole following them. By the time the middle of the fleet reached South Head the hole was gone! 06.01.2022 Finally back on the water with the entire Bow Caddy Team. Thanks Jake Price, Wendi Lanham and @StephenPrice for great footage of the race and Stuart Don for skippering our camera boat. Not quite the weather that was forecast and after a slow start the action heated up for the fleet heading north with an upwind return to Sydney in a strong breeze. Thank you Cruising Yacht Club Of Australia for the commission.

06.01.2022 At shortly after 9pm this evening a fire started flaring up in the bushland on North Head. Driven by the strong southerlies it could be seen spreading northwards. In the time since, the sound of fire engine sirens coming past Fairlight has been almost continuous.

05.01.2022 From the Archives of 2016 One of the ‘stars’ of Hamilton Island Race Week, apart from the large fleet of yachts and the beautiful island is the opportunity to see some of nature’s giants close-up the whales. On this day, where a complete absence of wind brought up the AP flag for many hours, the waiting fleet watched two whales wallowing around the course start area. Heading back to base, we came across a young whale enjoying the delights of playing in the Whitsunday’s tropical waters. Hamilton Island Race Week #HIRW #Whales

04.01.2022 From the Archive of 2018 - In the ever-expanding arc of the foiling constellation, Bill and Jack Macartney’s SuperFoiler series was a brief but bright meteor event. Lasting just the one season in 2018, the SuperFoilers made for some exciting sailing in a number of venues across Australia including Adelaide, Geelong, Sydney, Busselton and the Gold Coast. Many of the topflight sailors now sailing in the SailGP F50s were able to hone their foiling skills in what were significant...ly simpler but no less challenging multihulls. Indeed, when we interviewed Glen Ashby in Geelong he pointed out that the technique required to transition from displacement to foiling on the Super Foilers had more in common with the current iteration of monohull AC boats (ie lifting from a central hull on to a single daggerboard and rudder foil combination) than the former AC foiling catamarans. This video captures the two day Geelong regatta, which was won by Glen Ashby’s Euroflex team. SuperFoiler Grand Prix Doyle Sails See more

04.01.2022 It's been a while since we had the team together - Crosbie Lorimer, Wendi Lanham, Dale Lorimer & Jake Price. Let's hope we get those cameras out soon. Stay safe everyone. Andrea Francolini Photography

03.01.2022 Sean Langman's RP69 Moneypenny passed the Hornby Light on Sydney's South Head, entering Sydney Harbour shortly before 6pm this evening local time (with what looked like a double reefed mainsail); the first boat home in today's Audi Centre Sydney BWPS Bird Island Race. Battling it out at sea offshore from Manly were the TP52s led by Matt Allen's Ichi Ban in a close battle with Matt Donald and Chris Townsend's Gweilo. Not far behind were Celestial, Zen and Quest, followed by Smuggler and Koa. There was then a 5nm gap to the next group of boats led by Khaleesi. Bringing up the rear of the fleet, still off The Entrance with 35nm to go were White Bay 6 Azzurro, in company with Wild Oats (formerly Wild Rose) and Zeusus. 02.01.2022 Bow Caddy ventured up Sydney Harbour today to catch the first race in the 18 foot skiffs JJ Giltinan Trophy series. The fleet of over 20 skiffs flew around the harbour in a good 10 15 knots southerly. Thanks Stuart Don for great camera boat driving. North Sails International 18ft Skiff 18fters Double Bay

01.01.2022 It would have been a wild and woolly ride on the 6.30am Manly to Circular Quay run this morning. Unsurprisingly, the Freshwater class stopped running shortly after!

01.01.2022 So sad that a 76 year unbroken run for this extraordinary race comes to an end in 2020. Very disappointing for those who have spent so much time, energy and anticipation for this year's race given the year we have had. Here's to a better 2021.
