25.01.2022 I am grateful for this forced step back from the busy-ness of life, and to really appreciate the simple things once again. Maybe we all needed this. Keep well, and use this time to recharge, heal, and do what your heart is telling you that you should do.

24.01.2022 Back from my daughter’s wedding in Toowoomba...it was a beautiful day! Have just a screen shot photo that I couldn’t resist sharing...it’s so ‘her’!

23.01.2022 Are you putting up with back or other body pain because you don’t know what will help? Or you’ve tried some things that didn’t work, and have given up? Why not give Bowen Therapy a try? Many people all over the world have enjoyed improved body functioning and reduction of muscle/body pain from Bowen Therapy. Call or message to make your booking for Mondays or Fridays 7am-7pm.

21.01.2022 A SHAKTI MAT is a very good substitute for a Bowen Therapy treatment, and something you might like to invest in to allow you to continue caring for your body while you cannot access massages and Bowen treatments. I can highly recommend them, and have one myself... and this is not a paid sponsorship, btw :-) While it looks like an ancient instrument of torture :-D, you'll be surprised at the results! After a session on the mat, I feel amazing and revived if I use it during t...he day (good at times of stress especially) and I almost 100% guarantee you'll have the best sleep if you use it for 20 minutes just before going to bed. You could even combine it with a guided meditation on Youtube, and increase the benefits! I have the original, but they come in a 'softer' version, and a 'hard-core'. The pillow was not available when I got mine about 6 years ago, but I believe it'd be well worth the extra investment. I know we're all trying to save money where we can, as we don't know what's in the future, but I'd say this is an investment in your health for many years to come. https://www.shaktimats.com.au/

17.01.2022 Do you feel sleepy after your Bowen treatment? I often tell people that they may feel like a nap after their treatment, or they often might sleep extremely soundly the night of their treatment. This is because the body is busy doing the shifts that we've activated during the treatment. It's really important to listen to what your body needs, and treat it gently for the next few days. This article explains a bit more about making the most of your Bowen treatment http://simplybowentherapy.com.au/makethemost/

17.01.2022 To help with the devastating losses experienced by so many with the ongoing fires around the country, I am donating 50% of the proceeds of Bowen treatments on Friday 10th, and Monday 13th January to Celeste Barber's fundraiser supporting the Rural Fire Brigades (or organisation of your choice) (Link for RFB fundraiser in comments). It is always difficult to know where to donate, and if it will actually reach those in need. However, this fundraiser has attracted huge interest ...already, and I'm confident this money will be distributed to wherever there is need. If you have been considering having a Bowen Therapy treament, please consider one of these dates (Friday 10th, and Monday 13th), and help support our fellow Australians that have been impacted so terribly from the fires. My own parents lost everything in a fire 5 years ago, so I know almost first-hand the devastation that these people would be experiencing.

17.01.2022 It’s important to have a whole toolkit for helping yourself when it comes to chronic back pain. Although Bowen Therapy is often highly beneficial in relieving back pain, a multi-pronged self-care approach is going to be even more beneficial in the long term. I recommend drinking a good amount of water; reducing consumption of coffee, tea, alcohol, and smoking; meditation to reduce stress; and adding beneficial stretches, such as those found in yoga or Pilates. Thankfully, t...hese days there is so much available to us via the internet, so you don’t even have to leave your home to access fantastic tutorials. I’ve included a link to a 15 minute restorative yoga session here, specifically targeting back pain. But there are so many more if this doesn’t suit you. You can even find short night time yoga sessions you can do while in bed! What could be better! Make this a regular part of your self care routine. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=28oj6Cs9S0E So get googling for what suits you, and happy stretching!

15.01.2022 True. It’s a shame that it’s sometimes difficult to do what’s good for us!

08.01.2022 Seeing as there are quite a few newcomers to my page (Welcome, and thank you! :-D), it's worth reposting this to give an idea of how Bowen Therapy works, for anyone that is wondering. Bowen Therapy works on the fascia (fa-sha), or connective tissue of the body. Fascia is beginning to be understood by the medical profession as an extremely important part of the body, and worthy of attention. Fascia is the web-like substance that we can see when we pull apart a piece of steak (...or any other meat). In a living body, this webby space is fluid-filled, and surrounds every single muscle, bone, ligament, and organ, as well as forming a layer between our skin and musculature. Fascia is the way hydration travels through our body, is the conduit, or movement path, of the lymph system, and contains many other amazing little powerhouses of energy and collagen production. Through underuse of the body, or overuse, dehydration, injury, age, and other similar ravages (including smoking, alcohol, and coffee), the fascia can become 'glued', dry, inflexible, and inhibit free passage of lymph, hydration, and the free functioning of energy and collagen production. This means the body, muscles, and organs do not receive what they need in the way of hydration and nutrients, nor can they easily get rid of waste products through the fascia. This leads to pain, inflammation, ill-health, reduction of normal body functioning, and a loss of homeostasis (balance of body systems). It's little wonder that Bowen Therapy, working primarily on stimulating and releasing any 'gluing' of the fascia, has such a profound effect on underlying muscles, organs, and ligaments. Another way to keep our fascia in good shape between Bowen treatments is by sustained stretches like you'd find in Yoga and Pilates exercises. Here is an interesting Yoga-based article on Fascia.

06.01.2022 Due to the hands-on nature of Bowen Therapy, and the current concerns of COVID-19, for the continued health of my clients and myself, I will no longer be taking appointments for the foreseeable future. If, however, you have a specific problem, feel free to be in contact by phone or FB message and I will explain some exercises or massage moves you can do from home. In the meantime, I will periodically post tips for keeping our bodies moving and functioning optimally so that ...we can all get through these months in the best way possible. (No.1- Drink lots of water!!) Stay safe everyone, and remember to check in on friends, family, and neighbours to keep everyone feeling supported and connected.

01.01.2022 I’m happy to say that, due to Stage 3 lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, I will begin offering Bowen treatments from Monday 15th June. Needless to say, hygiene precautions will be practiced between clients, and hand sanitiser will be available for your use. I will be operating at a reduced level during seeding time, so please understand if I cannot fit you in immediately.
