05.01.2022 More great news for Bowen and a word from Chairman Bruce Hedditch Hi Members & Supporters: The Bowen Chamber of Commerce has been lobbying for sometime for the need for additional teaching facilities at the Bowen TAFE Campus.... I am delighted to provide below a press release today from the Queensland Premier, the Hon. Annastacia Palaszczuk, Premier of Queensland announcing that $200,000 will be expended at the Bowen Campus to establish a student-industry collaborative learning centre to support community and healthcare training and high-end manufacturing activities. The Chamber can be proud of our stance on this issue and even last Wednesday at a meeting in Bowen with the Hon. Cameron Dick MP, Queensland Treasurer we focussed upon the need of improved learning facilities at the Bowen TAFE. Bowen youth must be encouraged to seek further education and a strong Bowen TAFE is one avenue. The Bowen Campus must be developed to meet the skill needs of industry and while this announcement is appreciated, more is required. Bruce Hedditch Chairman Bowen Chamber of Commerce Full details on the link below

03.01.2022 Great News from Chairman Bruce Hedditch!! Hi Members & Supporters: For sometime the Bowen Chamber of Commerce has been lobbying for the installation of a CT Scanner at the Bowen Hospital to avoid the necessity for patients to travel to other centres for this medical assessment.... We are very grateful to the Member for Dawson, George Christensen MP who last year secured $5m from the Federal Government for the upgrade of facilities at the Bowen Hospital to accommodate the installation of a CT Scanner. I am pleased to advise that the Queensland Department of Health are currently signing off on the final plans for the development and the following dateline should now occur: - Tenders for the Construction will be sought in the next 2/3 weeks. - Commencement of construction is planned to start in August 2020 - Completion and handover of the building is expected in May 2021 - QBuild will oversee the project. - Bowen Builders are encouraged to submit tenders for the project. The Bowen Chamber of Commerce can be proud of their involvement with the CT Scanner being provided to our community and this follows our previous involvement in having Dialysis Services established at the hospital. Kind regards Bruce Hedditch
