24.01.2022 Want to understand certain dog behaviour a little more. Fabulous article on hyper awareness and trigger stacking in dogs.
23.01.2022 Lengthy research article on the cranial cruciate ligament, but well worth the read to understand tissue healing times and when its appropriate to use modalities during the different stages of healing.
23.01.2022 Great two days again with Dr Jaime Jackson. Learn an incredible amount with these visits and wonderful for Dr Jackson to see the changes in the dogs who came for follow up appts. A particular and growing interest for me personally is how understanding canine behaviour and utilising that knowledge to combine it with working with dogs structural issues results in a much happier and engaged dog in the process.
22.01.2022 Very proud to support the Northern Tasmanian Light Horse Troop and War Animal Remembrance Day. Animals have long played a role and continue to serve our Country. Please join with the Northern Tasmanian Light Horse Troop in honouring the contribution of all animals that served in time of war. War Animal Remembrance Day is to be held 27th February 2021 at Campbell Town.... I have merchandise available for purchase on behalf of Northetn Tasmanian Light Horse Group.
22.01.2022 Healthy Ear Care - This may shock you but the most prominent mark of a happy and disease-free ear is that it requires zero care. Many people mistakenly belie...ve that in order to keep your dog's ears healthy, they need to be cleaned and/or plucked, but this is not true. Regular ear cleaning is often the cause of recurrent ear inflammation, stubborn chronic infections, and superbug overgrowth. In dogs, the ears have evolved to signal general system imbalances and health problems. They are the signal lights of your dogs body when there is something wrong. A dog's ears are closely connected to the health of its digestive tract, liver, and spine. While the nature of ear conditions makes them appear localized in the ear, most ear conditions are, in fact, indications of a systemic disease. A healthy ear might have a slightly sweet odour, which is normal. Most important of all, the skin of a healthy ear is pale, with no signs of swelling, inflammation, wetness, itching, or discomfort. The presence of a small amount of wax may be normal especially in dogs that have thick skin such as Spaniels and Labrador Retrievers. What to do with healthy ears? Despite popular belief, healthy ears require no regular cleaning. A healthy ear canal skin functions as a conveyer belt growing from the inside out, carrying debris and impurities out of the ear canal. It is ok to gently wipe your dogs ears once a month or so, but in most cases, even that is unnecessary. Pouring ear solution in the ear canal often leads to bacterial imbalances and superbug overgrowth. When it comes to ears, the saying: If it's not broken, dont fix it applies very well. #DrDobias #healthydog #doghealth #happydog #dogearproblems #dogears
22.01.2022 Just so you all know....more yummy treats will soon be here
22.01.2022 The many faces of the beautiful Portia, relaxing during her Bowen treatment.
22.01.2022 The beautiful Ruby...10 years young. So full of life and joy...love this girl. The tail never stops wagging. Ruby suffers from arthritis and has regular Bowen treatments to assist in keeping muscles functioning as well as they can to support her arthritic joints. Issues arise not only because of the arthritic joints themselves, but also compensatory patterns that occur due to offloading and shifting weight from painful limbs.
19.01.2022 Great article on how to help our animal companions when the colder weather starts to bite.
18.01.2022 Thank you Christina. Love these dogs. Aside from the obvious benefits of Bowen and Hydrotherapy for the dogs themselves, there is absolutely nothing more rewarding than the dogs having complete trust in what you do and seeing their complete happiness in being here for their treatments.
18.01.2022 To all my clients...please take note of this warning from the Australian Veterinary Association.
17.01.2022 Great article on the function of the Sacroiliac joint and it’s importance to movement along with signs of dysfunction in the SIJ.
16.01.2022 As my clients, you are all very important to me and I want everyone to be healthy and safe. Within the clinic our general hygiene is to the highest standard following standard practices, but I have introduced additional cleaning measures throughout the day, including wiping down of counters, door handles and hard surfaces. I encourage people to display safe hygiene such as coughing into elbow or disposable tissue, washing hands etc. I will provide hand sanitiser for use and ...access to hand washing facilities. Please do not attend any appointments if you have been overseas in the past 14 days, live with someone in self isolation or have a cough, sore throat, temperature or any flu like symptoms. Rescheduling your appointment is safer for us all. There will be no cancellation fees in these circumstances. I will continue to keep informed with the latest Government advice and follow the guidelines provided by the Australian Government Dept of Health https://www.health.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-hea and will provide further updates if the current situation changes. Please be smart, keep safe and dont take any chances, but also remember wherever possible to please continue to help and support local business...we need that now more than ever. Thank you for your support, cooperation and understanding.
14.01.2022 Just adore this little dude Alfie. Alfie unfortunately has hip and elbow dysplasia. Along with his Mum and his Vet, we are working hard to get this wee man, as structurally strong as possible, using a combination of therapies, which once his cast is removed, will also include Hydrotherapy. This is what rehab is about, a team working together, using a multi modal approach. Team Alfie
14.01.2022 The many faces of the gorgeous Miss Coco, Coco has regular hydrotherapy and bowen therapy sessions, following bilateral cruciate surgeries a few years ago. These sessions are a proactive measure to keep Coco functioning at her absolute best and assist in identifying and dealing with any minor changes before they become an issue. And yes, I had Boomba in the treadmill..dont tell Mum (Coco)
14.01.2022 She has had to wait for me all her life, now it’s my turn to wait for her. Beautiful words and sentiment, from owner Jin as she was explaining to me how Ipuni still enjoys her walks with Ipuni at 19 years young. I got the privilege of meeting the gorgeous Ipuni, as owner Jin, brought her for a Bowen treatment to assist her in her senior years. Their walks together now are guided by what Ipuni wants to do and if that’s an hour of sniffing and very slow walking, then that’...s what they do. No rush, no pressure, just Jin waiting patiently for Ipuni to say she’s done with her sniffing and socialising and it’s time to go home. Thank you Jin, your words struck a chord, as that’s what our loyal companions do...they wait for us....constantly...for everything. Bless you for your kind heart and soul by now waiting for her. We can all learn something from Jin and Ipuni....I know I did.
13.01.2022 Well worth the time to read.
13.01.2022 Delighted to announce we will be reopening from 2nd June for all Canine Bowen and Hydrotherapy sessions. Humans are going to have to wait a little longer for their turn. We have our Covid Management Plan in place and simply ask that clients remain in their vehicle on arrival, so I can greet you and step you through the additional measures in place.... Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
13.01.2022 Thanks Kellie, lovely to work with you and your two beautiful girls.
12.01.2022 A little bit of love, quiet and calm in the chaos that currently surrounds us all. Bless you Reilly
12.01.2022 The absolutely stunning Miss Ziggy came for a follow up treatment today and is progressing very nicely. Ziggy plays a very important role being an assistance dog for her owner Trish, so it’s important we keep her body functioning at her absolute best so she can fulfill her duties for many years to come. Miss Ziggy and her mate Zeus are also the primary taste testers of the wonderful Zara's Doggy Treats, which many of my doggy clients think is the whole reason for a visit to me ...the treat at the end of their session. Miss Ziggy...look at those eyes
11.01.2022 This is what makes it all worthwhile. Bless your little cotton socks Bonnie, very grateful and privileged to be one of your hoomans
10.01.2022 With winter arriving, many pets are feeling it in their arthritic limbs. This is how Hydrotherapy can help.
10.01.2022 Cant wait to get back to work this week for all my fabulous canine clients. Have missed you all Our Covid19 management plan is in place and I would ask when you arrive, please remain in your vehicle and I will meet you, to step through the additional sanitising and disinfecting measures implemented to ensure a safe and clean environment for all. If you are unwell, including with fever (or night sweats/chills) or respiratory symptoms,e.g. shortness of breath, cough, so...re throat, please call me to reschedule your appointment. Thank you all for your support.
09.01.2022 Just an update, at this stage we will be remaining closed until 15th June, unless restrictions are lifted earlier. Missing all my fabulous clients. Hope you are all staying safe and well.
07.01.2022 The simply beautiful Harriet, so relaxed and content after her Hydrotherapy and Bowen session. Can it get any more peaceful than this. Harriet is recovering from IVDD and surgery. One of the many benefits of a Bowen treatment is this deep restorative sleep. It was a shame to wake her for her trip home. Bless her
07.01.2022 Miss Gabby did not disappoint...the gorgeous girl in her Christmas finery From my house to yours, wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May you all have a safe, festive season and I hope 2020 brings you only good things. Thank you for your support over the last 12 months, its truly appreciated and Im grateful to be part of your world.... The clinic is now closed and will reopen 13th January 2020.
06.01.2022 Great article on the function of the Sacroiliac joint and its importance to movement along with signs of dysfunction in the SIJ.
06.01.2022 Whilst it saddens me to take this step, all services are suspended effective today, for a four week period. To all clients I thank you for your understanding and support. I am endeavouring to contact each and every one of you individually and my apologies if you havent heard from me yet. Everyones health and safety is the single most important consideration and this step is regrettably necessary, in line with State Government restrictions. I am available by phone or emai...l to discuss any concerns and to provide support and assistance for ongoing management at home. Stay safe, stay well, much gratitude to you all.
05.01.2022 Please share and help our local businesses out wherever possible
05.01.2022 Long backs and back pain. Great article and some useful information on what to look out for and how we can help our dogs. http://www.mcrehabilitation.com//the-truth-about-long-back
05.01.2022 Absolutely.....Be More Dog
04.01.2022 Whatty Blessed by a visit from this gorgeous boy today. 16 1/2 years young. Whatty is having Bowen to help those not so young joints get him around a little easier...Love him
03.01.2022 As we come towards the end of another year, its only natural to reflect. Its been a tough year for not only me personally, losing two of my own, but also very sadly for a number of my clients. Thank you to all of you for your support while I dealt with my own loss and for my clients who have lost their own, this is for you. Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your much loved companions journey, it truly is a privilege and a blessing. I hope you can take comfort from these words...I know I did.
02.01.2022 Beautiful Miss Lily got her smile back after her Bowen treatment. Sometimes changes in behaviour and temperament can be caused by pain. As Lily’s owner did, if you notice changes in your pets normal disposition it’s important you discuss with your Vet to address any underlying causes.
02.01.2022 New Year....new challenges for my brain . As all of my clients know, I believe you never stop learning....(actually...its more of...the more I learn...the more I realise I dont know). To that end, Im now underway and knee deep in study working towards becoming a Small Animal Rehabilitation Therapist. 18 -24 months of study coming up....but it will be worth it. On completion, heres a small sample of the things I will be able to do for your four legged compan...ions. Exercise and Rehabilitation Plans for: injury prevention, injuries, improving functional abilities of your ageing pet, along with exercise and rehab plans for conservative or surgical management of Orthopaedic and Neurological conditions. Love what I get to do. #Smallanimalrehab #Caninerehab
01.01.2022 Effective immediately all human bowen treatments are cancelled. Whilst it saddens me to take this step, its simply the responsible thing to do, given everyones health and safety is the highest priority. In respect of ongoing animal appointments (Hydro/Bowen), Im asking that owners remain either in their vehicle or outside viewing into the clinic and to let me complete the treatment independently. Additional hygiene measures are in place, including collecting animals and ...using our own sanitised collars and leads. Whilst Im contacting every client individually, in the interim please contact me (0401418045) to discuss any concerns. Stay safe and well.
