There’s still a few spots left over the next few weeks if anyone would like to volunteer. Thanks to everyone who came. We look forward to seeing you all again next Saturday. Have a great weekend. 22.01.2022 One more sleep until parkrun!! We are all set to go tomorrow. I have had a quick look at the track and while it is wet we should have not problem holding our event. We will still hold parkrun if it is raining and will only cancel if there is lightning or some other unforeseen danger.... Remember, be COVID safe and DFYB! See you tomorrow. Mick R
21.01.2022 Good morning parkrunner/ walkers! Perfect morning for Pb’s! A couple of showers can’t put us off! Out of bed and meet us at Barker Park. Cheers Michael D RD
20.01.2022 Hi all Bowen parkrunners, Hope to see a big turnout for event 192. This will be a once in a lifetime chance for some of us. There has never been a parkrun on the 29th of February, and the next time it will happen is not until 2048. It is also the last day of summer, so don’t miss this amazing opportunity. What a great experience to tell us your grandchildren about. The volunteer roster is almost full, but we do need someone for finish tokens. Enjoy the rest of the week, and we will see a huge turnout at Barker Park, this Saturday morning at 0645 for a 0700 start. All the best, Michael Deckert- run director

15.01.2022 Hi all Bowen parkrunners, We had a warm morning for our 187th parkrun today, with 41 participants, 4 of whom were visitors from Townsville and Mackay. They all said they enjoyed our course. A big thankyou again to our volunteers, Dave Jones, Jackie Jones, Rebekka Bichsel and Rhondda Deckert. Great news is that we have a full roster for next week, hopefully the weather will be a little kinder. The bbq was very nice after the parkrun, with lots of yummy bacon & egg sandwiches being devoured. We could do this more regularly if you would like, tell us what you think about the idea. Will sign off for now, hope everyone has a great week, and we will see you all next Saturday morning at Barker Park for parkrun 188. Cheers Michael Deckert- run director.

13.01.2022 It's that time of the week again! parkrun eve!! The roster only needs a tail walker and we should have no problem getting one by tomorrow. It is going to be hot. Very hot. Likely 28 degrees when we start. Take care and stay hydrated!... We have a few notes and reminders. International Women's Day parkrun is Sat 7 March. No barcode no time. Under 11s with an adult. All volunteers need to wear a vest. Finally, Eukanuba have become a parkrun sponsor - not a major sponsor that will appear on the flags but they are sponsoring. See you all tomorrow morning and DFYB! Mick Reinke RD for 15 Feb 20
13.01.2022 Unfortunately, parkrun has been postponed! Stay fit and stay safe. We will see you all back in there other side! Mick Reinke
13.01.2022 Results are up! Apologies for the delay - I was off to work straight after parkrun this morning. What a difference a week makes! Practically freezing this morning with a cool 22 degrees. The cool temperature bought a slew of PBs - Ged O'Hare, Zac Bramble, Anna Bennett, Sally Jack, Cooper Bramble, Isaiah Howell, Lyn Riley, Cookie, Charlotte Bramble and, as usual, Mary Smith. Well done to all. I am forecasting a great winter for you guys after doing so well in the summer. ...Special thanks to our volunteers. Being a free community event, we rely on a cycle of regular volunteers to keep the event running. Early volunteers make the job much easier for our run directors who put in the effort to set up, pull down, process results post via facebook.. This week we thank: Michael DECKERT (first timer brief), Melinda HOWELL (barcode scanner), Margret HUNT (finish tokens), Paul HUNT (tail walker), Isabella REINKE (time keeper) and Michael REINKE (RD). We are still after a timekeeper and barcode scanner for next week. Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone out next weekend! Mick Reinke RD for 14 Feb
11.01.2022 Hi to all of our Bowen parkrunners. I hope everyone is excited and ready for tomorrow. I'm not sure what the weather is doing.... It may be cloudy and rainy, it may be bright and sunny, I can pretty much guarantee it'll be humid but there's still no better way to start a Saturday. ... See you all at 6.45 for a 7am start. Cheers, Justine. See more

10.01.2022 Well it was hot as expected. This week 39 people ran, jogged and walked our beautiful course. Hopefully that will be the worst day of the year. Despite the heat, we had 5 PB’s set today. A big congratulations to Rhonda Nilsson, Sam Roberts, Lydia Martin, Mary Smith and Kate Busch. As always, we are grateful to our volunteers:... Michael REINKE Isabella REINKE Gregory REINKE Therese SMALLEY Madeleine CRANER Paul Hunt will be RD next week and thanks to those who have already filled the volunteer roster! Have a great week and see everyone 7am next week for another great start to the weekend! Mick Reinke RD for 15 Feb 20

09.01.2022 More photos from parkrun 188, happy runners and walkers.
08.01.2022 Another great start to the weekend with a cool rainy parkrun. 14 walkers and runners took part with PBs to Zachary and Cooper Bramble. Brendan Malty set a cracking pace despite the wet conditions and was only a few seconds off his PB.... Without the regular support of our participants filling our volunteer roles, we would not be able not hold these events. A very big thank to Rebekka BICHSEL, Charlotte BRAMBLE, Gregory REINKE, Michael REINKE and Therese SMALLEY. Enjoy you weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next weekend with better weather. Mick Reinke RD for 9/1/21
07.01.2022 Hi all Bowen parkrunners, Looking forward to seeing a big turnout for our Australia Day weekend run. We have a full roster which is great. It would be great to see a lot of green and gold, or red, white and blue. There will be a byo bbq after the parkrun, so don’t forget your esky full of goodies. Could be a cold drink or a thermos of coffee to go with your bacon & egg sandwich, yum. Please try and enjoy some quality time with your parkrun family. Will sign off for now, see you all on Saturday morning for parkrun 187. Cheers Michael Deckert-run director.
06.01.2022 More photos from parkrun 187
05.01.2022 More photos from our 192nd parkrun!
05.01.2022 Hi all Bowen parkrunners, A much cooler morning for parkrun 188, with 33 participants enjoying our beautiful course. Allen Bell from Townsville was our only visitor, and he said that he really enjoyed our course. A very big thankyou to our volunteers today Julie Kay, Dave Jones, Jackie Jones and Rhondda Deckert. Great news is that we have a full roster for next week, thanks team. It would be great to see some bigger turnouts for parkrun soon. Please don’t let the weather turn... you off. Today it was raining at 0630, but by start time it was perfect. We are all doing parkrun for the same reason, apart from being a great social event, it is your fitness that is the main goal of doing parkrun. Sorry to keep saying it, but health is wealth. Your fitness will improve with the right attitude and training. Extra training during the week is very important, to improve your times at parkrun. So please come back to parkrun, and feel healthier and happier. Hope to see a big turnout for parkrun 189, next Saturday morning at Barker Park 0650 for a 0700 start. Have a great week, and stay happy. Cheers for now, Michael Deckert- run director. See more
