24.01.2022 Human Skeleton under Different Situations Humans have around 270 bones at birth, but they fuse together as we grow old. By the time we reach adulthood, the numb...er of our bones goes down to 206 bones. The bones in our skeletons reach their maximum density around age 21. Our bones do not only help us move, they provide us with structural support, protect our organs and help us produce red blood cells. They also act as a storage area for minerals, particularly calcium.

22.01.2022 Every day, we're practicing being the type of people we want to be, whether we realize it or not. If you're constantly stressing, complaining, and numbing yours...elf with destructive habits, you can't possibly be happy. Change your habits, change your life. How many times a day do we complain about things not being the way we want them to be? How many times a day do we disengage from connection with others and allow ourselves to be distracted by technology? How many times a day do we worry about things that haven’t even happened yet? The answer is likely: a lot. We’re experts at this stuff. After all, the key to mastering any skill is repetition; if we repeat a specific action enough, eventually we’ll gain fluency and competency at it. This is why the true secret to happiness lies in our daily habits rather than in the ‘magic fixes’ we often think will make us happy. ~Becki Sams

21.01.2022 Via Murray Braithwaite This dessert is to die for! Here is an excellent post by Chris Masterjohn on how eating sugar (sucrose, HFCS, fruit sugar, honey) unique...ly super-fuels SARS-CoV-2 virus replication in cellsits the fructose. The discussion is a biochemical nerdfest, which I enjoyed, but here is his bottom line for more normal people: The Bottom Line Although there is no human evidence thus far, there is a strong biochemical argument suggesting that fructose, but not glucose, would provide extra fuel to the growth of RNA viruses, including SARS-CoV-2. Glucose and fructose can both support viral growth through the pentose phosphate pathway. However, fructose disproportionately feeds the part of the pathway that fuels viral growth, while glucose also feeds the part of the pathway used to support antioxidant defense and the recycling of vitamin K and folate. The paper reviewed today showed that inhibiting this pathway virtually completely abolishes the ability of SARS-CoV-2 to infect isolated cells. Blocking this pathway in a live human risks impairing the recycling of glutathione, which would hurt certain parts of the antiviral defense, risk hemolytic anemia, and contribute to respiratory distress. However, cutting sugar out of the diet, or strictly moderating it, may allow the pathway to support the needs of our cells without throwing fuel on the fire of viral growth. While biochemical evidence from isolated cells does not necessarily translate into human health outcomes, we already have plenty of reasons to limit the amount of sugar in our diet. Eating a diet that moderates natural sugars and cuts out most added sugars is a good thing to do, and may just help protect against COVID-19. 21.01.2022 C H O I C E S Over the 20 years I have worked in the industry I have had conversations with thousands of people around their goals and what they believe the...ir barriers are to achieving them. What has really struck me, is the number of people who are simply unwilling to do the work that is needed to change their lives. They are unhappy and they want to feel better, but yet they do nothing about it. The reasons for their lack of action all come down to choice. They choose to not ask for help. They choose to not fix their home food environment, they choose to stay up late instead of getting to bed on time, they choose to skip the gym or not meal prep, they choose to watch TV instead of taking action, they choose to say yes to everything instead of sacrificing and saying no. Their choices continued to lead them on the very path making them miserable. Ultimately, we all make choices, which all have consequences. Earlier in my life I made bad choice after bad choice. In my early 20s my life was a train wreck. I was a divorced, single mother without a job, a car, or qualification. My future was pretty bleak. And I could have stayed like that if I chose to. So when I hear people say that they hate their life, or they hate their job or they hate how they feel but are doing nothing about it; its immensely frustrating. Not choosing, not changing - this is still a choice. I chose to dig my way out of the hole Id created for myself. I chose to complete my university degrees while working part-time, to try and build a better life for myself and for Andrew. I chose to stop partying every weekend and wasting my life. I chose working most weekends, unpaid prac, missing social events because I wanted more for me and I wanted more for Drew. So dont ever tell me that people cant change. I hate that mentality - it holds people prisoner to a life they dont love. You can change and at any moment you decide to. Your life is completely in you control. So choose wisely. <3

20.01.2022 Did you know that raw green leafy vegetables contain high doses of folate which is essential in healthy mood. Folate goes well beyond reducing neural tube defec...ts during pregnancy, it is needed for red blood cell formation, protein metabolism, cell growth and division just to name a few. However, it is also needed in the methylation cycle, where it breaks down homocysteine into methionine. High homocysteine levels are linked to depression amongst other things. So to help you maintain a healthy, happy mood, ensure you are getting adequate quantities of greens each day: Beans, Rocket, Spinach, Kale, Watercress, Parsley, Lettuce, Broccoli sprouts See more

20.01.2022 How does Bowen Therapy work? The procedures are so small and seemingly insignificant. How can it make any difference? You could say the same for a pin and a bal...loon! The more tension a structure has, the less pressure you need to apply to change it. If I stood in front of you wearing a shirt and twisted the left-hand corner of it, you would see the material stretching that is where the tension is, and it would feel very uncomfortable. Bowen Therapy relieves the tension in the body by unwind that twisting. Your body is not just a pile of bones stacked on top of one another, it’s a series of tensions. Photo thanks to the Bowen Hub.

15.01.2022 UPPER BACK PAIN CAN BE A RESULT OF PEC PROBLEMS ANATOMY FACTS The pectoralis minor muscle is located toward the outside of the chest. It attaches the 3rd, 4...th and 5th ribs to the front of the shoulder blade (coracoid process of the scapula). It pulls the shoulder and shoulder blade down and aids with inspiration by lifting the upper ribs so you can breathe in. PAIN PATTERN Pain in the front of the shoulder and upper chest is the most common symptom of pectoralis minor dysfunction. Pain can be due to a muscle tear/strain, repetitive stress injury, and trigger points. Rounded shoulder posture is a common sign of a shortened pectoralis minor muscle too. The muscle tightens and becomes short pulling the shoulders forward. Also pain in the upper back between the shoulder blades is often experienced due to the pec minor pulling the shoulders forward causing the upper back muscles to remain in an extended stretch. A band of pain just under the shoulder blades is also common. The pectoralis minor along with the scalenes, are known as neurovascular entrappers. Tight shortened pec minor and scalene muscles can put pressure on the axillary artery as well as nerves in the neck / shoulder area restricting circulation to the arm and causing symptoms such as numbness and tingling. So, the pectoralis minor muscle is a small muscle that can cause big problems. WHO IS AT RISK? People working with their arms out in front of the body. Using computers/laptops can put enormous strain on the pec minor if the arms are not properly supported. Sitting in a chair and reaching to use the keyboard rolls the shoulders forward and shortens the pec minor putting pressure on blood vessels and nerves that run under the muscle. People who have jobs or hobbies that require holding the arms up and overhead for extended periods of time can develop problems in the pec minor. Women with large breasts often experience shortened pectoralis minor muscles as well as the upper back pain caused by the shortened muscle and trigger points in the muscle. Carrying a heavy purse, or backpack can put pressure on the muscle cutting off circulation causing thoracic outlet syndrome symptoms of aching, numbness, and tingling. HOW TO STRETCH PEC MINOR? Try Towel Chest Stretch For this stretch, you will need a towel that is at least 3 feet long. Start with your arms hanging down at your sides and grasp the ends of the towel with your hands. Raise your arms over your head while keeping the towel taut. Stretch your arms behind your head as far as you can reach and pull the ends of the towel away from one another. At this point, the towel should be directly behind your head and your arms should be stretched out at in a v position. Hold this position for 10 to 30 seconds and repeat three times. This stretch also targets the pectoralis major and subscapularis muscles.

14.01.2022 How can you tell if food is from China? Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products 'made in china', so they don't show from which country it is made. However, you may now refer to the barcode, remember if the first 3 digits is 690-695 then it is Made in China.

13.01.2022 THE VAGUS NERVE A seemingly never-ending branching nerve that connects most of our major organs to our brain . Its the longest cranial nerve in our body, ...one for the right side and one for the left. And is largely responsible for the #mindbody connection for its role as a mediator between thinking and feeling, you know our gut feeling. The vagus nerve is the queen of the parasympathetic nervous system. The rest and digest or the #chillout nerve. So the more we do things to activate the #vagus nerve (like deep #breathing), the most we combat the effects of its opposer, the sympathetic nervous system - the fight or flight, rushing around, have to do something, #stress releasing one. A few other functions of the vagus nerve, just to name a few: slows your heart rate and respiration. lowers blood pressure. helps with calmness and relaxation. controls involuntary muscles in the digestive system, therefore, aiding digestion. taste sensation. movement function for the muscles in the neck responsible for swallowing and speech. gut-brain communication. reduces inflammation. 06.01.2022 Apologize when you hurt someone. Never apologize for being yourself. I know for me I use to say I'm sorry often. And one day my daughter Michelle, said, "Mom yo...u just said I'm sorry, what are you apologizing for?" This stopped me in my tracks. I actually said to her I don't I just feel bad. So pay attention to when you are saying I'm sorry. You may just be taking on other people's energy from what has happened and it has nothing to do with you. Saying I'm sorry means I have done something to hurt you and I see you and hear you and I will change my behavior. See more

06.01.2022 SUPER SPECIAL SENIOR ALERT When Rhani was surrendered to us a couple of months ago, everyone instantly fell in love with her. Although her owners have insisted ...that she is only 8 years old, Rhani looks and acts like a much older lady. She is gentle, loving and absolutely devoted to her humans. There are 2 things that Rhani loves above all else......sleeping on her humans bed and going in the car! Im the last few weeks, Rhani has been through a horrible time but that is now behind her and she is ready to find her furrever person. Rhani has arthritis and, in a bid to make her more comfortable, she was prescribed a low dose of steroids. Whilst this had a brilliant result, unfortunately, Rhani was hypo sensitive to the drug and ended up becoming unwell. She was so sick that our vets were concerned that it was something else so Rhani ended up having exploratory surgery, blood tests, xrays and an ultrasound to check that there was nothing more sinister going on. Thankfully, all Rhanis tests all came back perfectly normal and once she was off the steroids, she was back to her normal self. She is now on a medication that is working well and causing no problems. Rhani is the happiest girl. She is the most faithful friend but unfortunately her desire to be with her person has caused some separation anxiety. She loves water, can be a chatterbox when excited (oh the Staffy noises!), enjoys a gentle walk and is most definitely an inside dog. Rhani is fine with other dogs, cats and kids. Rhanis ideal home would be with humans who were home by he majority of the time or would take her when they went out, allow her to sleep on the bed (she is very good and doesnt move all night), take her for drives in the car and be willing to take on the associated costs of her medication. Rhani would be great for retired people, grey nomads or someone who works from home. Although we are looking for a forever home for Rhani, we would also consider a foster home if it met her needs - Sam PLEASE NOTE: This pet is located in Kingaroy. To apply, please go to the website www.karmasplacerescue.org.au and fill in the online adoption enquiry form See more
