15.01.2022 Depression Depression is more than having a depressed mood and manifests itself in a variety of symptoms, such as eating and sleep patterns, sudden fatigue, helplessness, abdominal pain and many other physical symptoms. Symptoms include:... loss of appetite and weight loss swollen hands and feet heaviness on chest urine and menstrual inconsistencies severe insomnia always feeling tired and finding things hard finding everything irritating lack of motivation and enjoyment in everything frequent headache having thoughts wishing to die If three of the above symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks, it is treated as an early symptom of depression and treatment is necessary. In Oriental medicine, the main cause of depression is 'weakness of the heart' and is aimed at treating it. Excessive anxiety and stress can cause the heart to become overworked and tired, resulting in the exhaustion of blood and body and mind as well as prolonged physical and mental fatigue and depressed mood. Our treatment focuses on improving the body and mind by restoring the function of the heart and blood circulation and regaining the vitality of the body. The following foods are recommended: lettuce, chicory, sprout vegetables, salmon, mackerel, saury, sardines, tuna and blue fish. Foods which are rich in zinc such as nuts, chestnut, walnut, seafood, shrimps, crabs, animal liver and beef are also helpful. Foods which are rich in folic acid such as kidney beans, peas, spinach, peanuts, broccoli and foods containing vitamin B12 such as chicken, pork, milk and eggs are good too. Nowadays, depression is recognised as a condition that need to be overcome through counselling and treatment. You may be wise to take Oriental medicine treatment which allows you to overcome your illness by raising your self-power before taking any pills.

10.01.2022 Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Herbal Treatment Fatigue is a condition in which you are abnormally exhausted after your daily activities, have no energy to do things that require constant effort or concentration, or are too weak to perform your daily activities. If this condition persists for more than six months, it is chronic fatigue syndrome.... Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is suspected if more than four of the following symptoms last for more than six months at the same time. Memory or concentration problems Pharyngeal pain (thick throat, like when you have a throat) Cervical or armpit lymph nodes swelling and pain Muscle pain Multiple joint pain headache When you do not feel refreshed even when you sleep If you experience severe fatigue after exercising or working as usual In oriental medicine, chronic fatigue appears to be caused by a lack of energy and blood circulation in the body. Treatment focuses primarily on balancing blood to keep the immune system and stamina away from disease. It usually manages stress, balances nutrition and hormones, and improves wrong lifestyles. Good diet Unrefined foods made with polysaccharides such as brown rice, soybeans, and whole grains, vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals, low-fat proteins, cabbage, broccoli and mushrooms, green fish, and fermented foods such as beans are good. What to avoid Stimulating foods such as saturated fats and coffee, tea, cola, ginseng, mate tea, alcohol, sweeteners, animal fats, artificial food additives Recommended Exercise The best exercise for chronic fatigue is walking. Start three times a week for 10 to 15 minutes a day, or 40 to 50 minutes a week for two to three months. Swimming improves respiratory and circulatory functions and helps to relieve chronic fatigue.

03.01.2022 Qi () Qi (energy) is an expression that we frequently encounter in our daily life, for example when something is full of vitality or when you say the atmosphere is good. It means that the person looks healthy because there is good circulation in the body. When you say a persons atmosphere is good, it means that their presence makes their surroundings feel better. Qi refers to the bodys vitality and energy levels and when there is good energy level, the body becomes warm ...and can withstand the cold. Its internal organs and mental activities are also well-performing. On the contrary, when someone says I feel bad, lethargic, sluggish or they appear to be lacking energy or in poor mood, it suggests that there is a lack of Qi in their body, causing the body to become less resistant, get tired easily, become more stressful and lose motivation in life. A persons level of Qi is pre-determined by their genes and can also be affected by their food consumption. Genetic influences and proper consumption of food are very important. If there is more Qi leaving the body than what is absorbed, one can become depressed, experience a feeling of helplessness and get lethargic. The spleen and lung are related to Qi. A lack of Qi in spleen or lung results in ones loss of appetite and their ability to digest foods, becoming more prone to getting stomach aches. One also loses energy, talks less and gets cold easily, becoming more susceptible to getting a flu or a rhinitis. One of the easiest ways to feel Qi is by rubbing your hands, in which you will feel hot energy, known as warmth (). When you remove it become Qi, which refers to both cold and hot sensations. As a way of activating Qi, I practice danjeon breathing. It allows me to absorb the energy of the universe, which can be used to circulate the energy within my body. Danjeon breathing helps me to feel the vitality of life and makes me feel good. Frequent massage of certain acupoints such as yongcheon, taejung, jamsori and gonggok assist with circulation of Qi. Herbal ingredients such as hwangi, ginseng, liquorice and jujubeare can help to rejuvenate Qi. Hwangi, jujube and liquorice can be boiled and consumed as tea. Prescriptions of Sagunzatang and bojungikgitang may be given.
