19.01.2022 Following yesterday's Return to Play advice, we know the question on everyone's lips is ' ' '? For Metro Melbourne, we can advise the following revised competition start dates: Thursday 26th Nov (Thursday 7-a-side)... Saturday 28th Nov (Weekend Pennant) Tuesday 1st Dec (Midweek Pennant) These are dates only for returning to play, and are subject to further advice from the Victorian Government (Sport and Recreation Victoria) and Vicsport. This decision to delay the Pennant season by 3 weeks, in addition to the health and safety aspect, provides clubs the opportunity to plan and assess their member’s willingness to return to clubs, as restrictions in Metropolitan Melbourne begin to ease over the coming weeks. Read the full state event & competition update here: https://bit.ly/37r13Dt We understand many clubs still have questions and some frustration around yesterday's Return to Play advice. Please be patient, we will continue to provide updates as soon as they become available. Hopefully it won't be too long before we can enjoy the same level of club access as our Regional mates.

13.01.2022 - : There is finally some light at the end of the tunnel for our Metropolitan Melbourne clubs. Metro Vic clubs can re-open outdoor greens for up to 10 people, however clubhouses are still to remain closed. ... The 1.5m social distancing restriction must be adhered to between all patrons at all times. Although masks are not mandatory when playing Community Sport, BV still recommends that masks be worn where you can. They should be worn between play, when not on the green, and when using toilet facilities, etc. In summary, yesterday’s easing of restrictions means the following for clubs in : Bowls can commence with 10 persons per club. Clubhouses are not open, except for toilet facilities. Greens & surrounds maintenance can occur by paid greenkeepers and volunteers. For , yesterday’s advice allows for an easing of clubhouse restrictions to 40 indoors (with a maximum of 10 per space), and 70 outdoors. Although this first small step towards re-opening Metro clubs may not be what everyone was hoping for, we do anticipate gaining approval for the 10-person limit set for Metropolitan clubs to be increased on or before November 1st 2020, to match the current Regional levels. Please take this news as positive, and use common sense to protect yourself and those around you. Bowls Victoria’s revised Return To Play / COVID Guidelines can be found here: http://bit.ly/OctRTPGuidelinesV2 See you out on the greens

10.01.2022 Bowls Victoria would like to advise all Metro clubs who may still be struggling to get club data entered into BowlsLink, that no fines will be issued for any teams/results entered late, or sent to BV for entry, for Rounds 1 & 2. We hope that an extra two weeks will help, especially due to the very late fixturing and final draws being released, and your pennant competitions being made available in BowlsLink just this week. With the slight change to the way entries are managed ...this year from last year, we do understand it hasn't been easy for all clubs to be ready by tomorrow (for those commencing the new Thursday comp), so there will be some leniency in the first few weeks. 08.01.2022 WE HAVE A WINNER!!!! It took us 6 weeks, but today we are so excited to announce that is our very lucky Member Draw winner, collecting $3,500 cash!! That also means that Nigel's club, Balnarring Bowls & Social Club Inc, has won $3,500 too! When told of his win just a little while ago, Nigel's first words were "ARE YOU SERIOUS"?! After confirming that it wasn't a prank call and verifying all Nigel's details, the penny dropped and the excitement started to s...ink in. Nigel expressed his thanks to Bowls Victoria and no doubt will spend the weekend thinking about how he might spend the cash (after checking with his wife first). Balnarring Bowls Club's Executive Officer Bob Brown was just as shocked and excited by the news. "Being a very small club, this money will certainly make life just a little bit easier, we'll put it to good use and make sure it goes back into something that will benefit all our members", said Bob. He mentioned that they really need new scoreboards and have been paying off new carpet, so we're sure the money will be spent wisely. So congratulations once again to Nigel and Balnarring Bowls Club - and also a special mention to Maxine, who both Nigel and Bob credited for keeping their member data up to date and is the person who looks after all things Bowlslink at their club. Great job Maxine, someone might owe you a drink (or two) What a way to finish the week, we hope all our members have a great weekend, if we weren't in lockdown we're sure there would be a party going on in Balnarring tonight! Watch this space for news on our next Member Draw

07.01.2022 The sun was shining for Round 1 of Metro Pennant, but unfortunately in some Regional areas games were cancelled due to the extreme heat. The BV staff and RBM's who bowled on the weekend were happy to see how well clubs have implemented their COVID-safe plans, but more importantly clubs' use of BowlsLink was outstanding. Congrats to all clubs who so promptly had their results entered by the Home sides and confirmed by the Away sides. We also had some Regions kick off their Region Championships, all managed in BowlsLink. Well done everyone! We'll be finalising the remaining sections of this season's Conditions of Play (we know you're all hanging out to find out the promotion/relegation decision). Please be patient, it's not far away from being finalised. Pic: Sandbelt Bowls Region Men's 4's Sun 29th Nov.

01.01.2022 : The Saturday morning 6-a-side and Thursday 7-a-side competitions are being treated as stand-alone competitions, NOT extensions of the traditional weekend and midweek pennant. Therefore, the side numbering will reflect this separate numbering for each competition. Players can play in all 4 comps. For those entering teams and results in BowlsLink, you will notice a change to your side numbering from Round 2. Eg; rather than playing for ‘Melbourne 7’ ...on Saturday morning and then ‘Melbourne 1’ in the afternoon, side numbering will change to commence numbering in each separate competition. For example, if you have 3 sides in the Thursday 7-a-side comp, the old and new numbering system will be: -- : Melbourne 7 Melbourne 8 Melbourne 9 : Melbourne 1 Melbourne 2 Melbourne 3 Players can play for multiple clubs, on a permit (which is free this year), if they want to increase the amount of bowls they play. If this is you, please ensure you have submitted a permit form! The midweek 6-a-side isn’t included in this as it’s an EXTENSION of the midweek comp, just like the 12-a-side Division 7 in the Weekend comp. You can’t play in these as well as the traditional comp. For any further clarification please contact Jimmy Whitehead on 0429 690 661.
