24.01.2022 At the station our training and skill development is always ongoing. Last week our training involved cordage and working at heights. We are lucky enough to have several crew members skilled in rescue, ropes and height safety. First we covered the theory component and refreshed our knot tying skills....then onto the fun stuff!! Using our trucks as anchor points the crew harnessed up and were scaling over the roof of our back shed.

23.01.2022 Want to avoid a house call from the friendly crew at Bowral FS and $1100 fine? Many residents are using this lockdown period to clean up their gardens and prepare for the following bushfire season by having a backyard pile burn. Please make sure that you comply with the local council regulations and have your fire permit from FRNSW. Fire permits are very easy to obtain. Firstly check the Wingecarribee council website (link provided) to see if you fall within the allowable gui...delines. Then, when you have your backyard pile ready, call Bowral Fire Station. We will make a time with you to come and check your pile and issue you with a permit. Your permit gives you 21 days to burn your pile. Easy as that! If you do not have a permit you risk being issued with a fine. Each new pile requires a new permit. 22.01.2022 On Tuesday our HazMat Tanker, along with Fire and Rescue NSW Station 378 Mittagong attended a truck crash on the Hume Highway. No one was injured however crews remained on scene to clean up a large fuel spill.

18.01.2022 In the early hours of this morning crews from Bowral 234 and Mittagong 378 attended a house fire in Bowral. The house was fully involved upon arrival. The crews quickly got to work, but with water pressure issues and difficulty accessing the property due to overgrown vegetation, there was little we could do to save the property. A long night for all crews involved with the fire fully extinguished later this morning.

15.01.2022 WE PROTECT THE IRREPLACABLE | PERSON RESCUED FROM SYDNEY UNIT FIRE Yesterday, Friday 18/09/2020, at approximately 7:48pm, Fire and Rescue NSW was notified of an... Automatic Fire Alarm activation at an address in Woolloomooloo. 'C' Platoon crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 004 Darlinghurst and 001 City of Sydney responded. Crews arrived within 4 minutes and numerous 000 calls were starting to be taken by our Sydney Communications Centre, reporting a top floor unit was on fire with multiple people reportedly trapped. This incident was subsequently upgraded to a Structure Fire 3rd Alarm due to the size of the fire and resources needed to combat this. One person was rescued by Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters and was treated and transported by NSW Ambulance. The unit involved in the fire was severly damaged by fire, however other units, which shared a common roofspace, were saved due to the fast response and hard work of firefighters. The following footage, is depicted by two of 001 City of Sydney firefighters, both wearing GoPro's, to give you a different Point-Of-View (POV) look on what roles Firefighters and Station Officers play at a large scale incident. As you will see, firefighting is an inherently dangerous and dirty occupation, however throughout the whole incident, our crews remained safe and perform their individual roles to a high standard. Our mission at Fire and Rescue NSW is to protect the irreplacable, and last night our 'C' Platoon crews did exactly that. Yet another great save.

12.01.2022 Fire and Rescue NSW applications are now open for permanent firefighters. Applications are only open for a couple of weeks so don't wait. https://www.fire.nsw.gov.au/page.php?id=10

10.01.2022 An insight into our training and our capabilities

09.01.2022 What is the seniority for positions of the truck? Does the new member drive or in the back? Just answering one of your questions. In Fire and Rescue NSW the positions you sit on a truck is based on experience and seniority. Generally the junior recruits will sit in the back and will be the Fire attack crew and will always be the ones that will enter the fire. The motor driver generally will have more experience and has to do extra training to sit in this position. The motor driver will be one of the hardest working member of the crew at the job. The person who sits in the front passenger seat is the OIC or Incident Controller. This person is generally the most experienced and most senior and will be guy in charge of the whole incident.

03.01.2022 As the temperatures drop and we get closer to winter we see an increase in residential house fire and house fire related deaths. Today our Fire Investigation an...d Research team showed us just how easy it is for a fire to start in your home when a heater is left unattended. Remember always to keep furniture and blankets at least one meter from the heater, and not to overload powerboard as we head into the winter months.
