24.01.2022 All parkruns across Australia are now cancelled. At this stage through until the end of March, but potentially longer. The goal is to reduce large groups meeting, so please do not turn up on saturday morning regardless. You can still keep up your running, however! Just maintain the principles of social distancing and proper hand hygiene, and we will be through this disaster and back to normal before you know it.

24.01.2022 With only two more weeks until our Shellharbour parkrun 6th Anniversary 5km ISO Event, we wanted to give you an update on how it will work: WHAT IS THE EVENT? O...ur 6th Anniversary ISO event is a 5km walk, jog or run that will take place on Saturday, June 13th 2020. WHAT TIME DOES IT START? Any time! As it's an ISO event, it can take place any time that you decide during the 24hr period of Saturday, June 13th 2020. WHERE IS THE COURSE? Anywhere you like! You can complete any 5km course you decide upon, in your own time, at any location. HOW IS IT TIMED? You time yourself! By using a stopwatch, GPS watch, smartphone or app and then upload your results - we will provide the details of this soon. WHO CAN TAKE PART? Anyone! People of all ages and all abilities can take part in our 6th Anniversary 5km ISO Event! WHAT DOES IT COST? Nothing! It's completely FREE! Entry is open to everyone, anywhere around the world! WILL THERE BE CAKE AND COFFEE? Of course! We encourage all participants to support local bakeries and favourite cafes during this time by buying their goods and replenishing their energy and fluid levels. CAN I DRESS UP? Absolutely! This year's theme is "Superheroes" - and that could be any one of your favourite heroes from the DC/Marvel comic universe or, considering the current environment, any of our emergency services! CAN I TAKE SELFIES? Definitely! We would love it if you could send a "selfie" that we can save in our special Selfies Album for the event ... please send to: [email protected]! WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW? This is not a parkrun event! It's an event that celebrates the 6th Anniversary of the launch of Shellharbour parkrun. Completion of this 5km ISO Event does not count towards any parkrun milestone. WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES? - All participants are asked to comply with all current COVID-19 social distancing laws and regulations. Ensure you adhere to ongoing health advice, restrictions, and laws in your Country/State/Territory. - Participants take part at their own risk and agree to adhere to all Government regulations, traffic rules and laws within the Country/State/Territory in which you participate - Your chosen 5km course should be local to where you live or work and can be any course, including net downhill :-) - Participants are encouraged not to walk/jog/run at Killalea, over our traditional parkrun course, during the times of 0800-0900 on Saturday, June 13th 2020 - Times uploaded should be elapsed time, i.e. you shouldn't pause your timing device mid-run or walk :-) - Except for participants taking part in wheelchairs, all entries must be completed on foot, ie. no bikes, scooters, skateboards, roller-blades, etc.

22.01.2022 Bowral parkrun Event #288 2nd Jan 2021. The first parkrun of the New Year was wet and cold. A bit different to this time last year! We had 63 parkrunners today, which were made up of a bunch of tourists, some locals keen to start the New Year off the right way, and then just the usual fanatical parkrunners who love to come out in the rain. Big congratulations need to go to our hardy volunteers who braved the drizzle and cold to hold the event. Thanks to Marty Bowen, Lesley B...owen, Alex Tottenham, Matt Froome, Michael Coastes, and a kind parkrunner who offered to take some photos as well (but we forgot to add her to the official list!) Last week we were treated to an amazing performance with Liam's second fastest mens time of all-time with a 15:46. This year the amazing performance was from a mum and her daughter who streeted the field to finish 2nd and 3rd overall. Belinda Martin and Imy Stewart ripped up the field, crossing in 17:28 and 17:29, just narrowly missing breaking the female course record of 17:25 that Imy set in Dec 2017. Our first males were all tourists, with Theo Christian the first back in 16:11, which is also the 5th fastest time on our course. Second was an unknown runner who did not have a barcode. while the 3rd male back was David Bell in 17:52. The first females were Belinda Martin and Imy Stewart, in 17:28 and 17:29, while Maddie Sargeant took out 3rd place in a time of 20:49, which was also her 5th PB in 5 parkrun races. There were 9 PBs today; Belinda Martin (17:28)- which was also a record in the female 45-49 group David Bell (17:52) Maddie Sargeant (20:49) 5 PBs out of 5 parkruns Sarah Arnold (22:46) Anthony Davis (23:08) Karyn Hamilton (23:15) Ralph Mathiesser (23:15) Glenn Vallis (26:39) Angela Nicholl (48:00) - 2 PBs in 2 parkruns! We also had two milestones, with Oliver Hampshire running his 100th, and David Underwood clocking up 50 parkruns. Just remember that you need a barcode to get a time - No Barcode = No Time. You can choose to print the barcode, or if you want something more permanent you can buy a BentLogic Athlete ID tag. The most convenient way to carry your parkrun Athlete ID barcode is on a durable plastic key tag ... attach it to your car keys, shoelace, necklace, wristband or zip. The tags are small, robust and and scan perfectly each and every time! The cost is $6.80 per tag, and best of all, $2 from each key tag will be donated back to parkrun. http://www.bentlogic.com.au/parkrun.html

17.01.2022 Our wait is almost over! Following successful relaunches in the NT, and with the ACT and Tasmania kicking off soon, it won't be too much longer before we get the green light for parkrun to recommence in NSW. There will need to be a few changes, but as with everything we do now in this crazy year it won't be anything too difficult for us to manage. Keep your eye out for our restart date (hopefully sometime in November!) https://blog.parkrun.com//parkrun-australia-covid-19-coro/

13.01.2022 Thanks volunteers plus tailwalker Simone!

13.01.2022 As expected, New Zealand will be the first parkrun country back up and running in just over 2 weeks time. Anyone want to take a guess at when Australia will be up and running??

12.01.2022 Bowral parkrun #285, 14/03/2020 This week 67 people braved the cool conditions to run, jog and walk our course. We welcomed tourists from Sydney, Canberra and Kingscliff and 3 first timers - Poppy, Olive and John who did a great job tackling our hill at the end! There were 5 new personal bests - congratulations Oliver Hampshire, Matthew Smith, Amelia May, Peter Welsh and Ruth Shedden.... As always parkrun couldn’t go ahead without the wonderful volunteers. Thank you this week to Alice, Marty, Tom, Simone, Laura and Jo who shivered and got their feet wet in the dewy grass so that parkrunners could get their Saturday morning fix. We need a photographer and a tail walker next week, and there are plenty of vacant spots in the weeks to come. Comment below or email [email protected] if you can help out. The photos below show our course today and in late January. What a difference! Hopefully we’ll see you again next week, but keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates regarding the Coronavirus COVID19.

11.01.2022 Some sad news today fellow Parkrunners with events in Australia cancelled to the end of April. These are such difficult times and we need to do everything we can to protect each other! We are so lucky in the Highlands with beautiful spaces to run and walk while maintaining safe social distancing. Keep safe and well and.. we will get through this together. The below is a message from Parkrun Australia. Dear all, Today’s update is to notify you that all parkrun events will now... continue to be suspended until at least the end of April. This is in order to keep all parkrun countries following the same timeline for the moment, although we do expect suspensions to go beyond April. Since deciding to close our events we have been working incredibly hard to action that decision, understand the implications of making it, and provide immediate support to parkrun communities around the world. And, with all events suspended, we are now able to begin work developing our strategy for supporting our communities during this difficult time and, one day, re-launching. We will get through this, together.

09.01.2022 If we can't experience Bowral parkrun at the moment, then lets live through photos from our very first Bowral parkrun 6 years ago! How many that are still going today were there at our first event?

09.01.2022 Don't forget to register for this week's parkrun event! We will have registration points available on Saturday or you can register before the event at home or in your car via the QR code below. Don't forget your sanitiser! Stay safe!

09.01.2022 Bowral Parkrun - 07/03/2020 | #284 A cooler morning and no rain greeted 125 runners, joggers and walkers at Bowral Parkrun this morning. First runner home was Jonathan Sharky in a cracking 18.43 closely followed by first lady, Amelia Carpenter in a PD at 19.36! There were 28 PBs in total today which was a great effort. We had visitors from England, Sydney, Canberra, Campbelltown and Newcastle plus a handful of first timers. Welcome to you all and we hope you enjoyed the event.... A big congratulations to Brad Richards who completed his 150th Parkrun today and celebrated his birthday - well done Brad! Thank you to all the volunteers and to Matt Froome for making sure the course was mown and safe to use. There were a lot of runners today without barcodes. One of parkrun rules is no barcode, no time. We cannot scan phones so please make sure you either bring a paper barcode or purchase a wrist band or barcode token to bring with you. We are good for volunteers next week but have lots of spaces in the following weeks. If you can help please let us know via Facebook or email to [email protected] See more

08.01.2022 Just a reminder that the next Bowral parkrun will be this Saturday 2nd January 2021 - barring any changes with NSW Health. There is NO New Years Day parkrun at Bowral this year - so now you can all have a big night tonight as you don't need to get up early tomorrow! Remember to follow the new Covid rules; scan the QR code either before you arrive or on arrival; ... bring your own hand sanitiser; and be sensible with social distancing. See more

07.01.2022 Making parkrun a safe place for everyone

05.01.2022 If you get time, please go to the following link and fill in the community survey regarding trails and tracks in the local area. Council are planning an 'extreme makeover' of the recreational trails and pathways in our community. It would be great to get as many runners and walkers contributing. Some of the things on our wishlist so far: 1) Signage on our parkrun course so visitors know where to go and so no-one else misses the turnaround... 2) Toilet amenities at our parkrun start line 3) Additional pathways to fill in the gaps linking Mittagong to Moss Vale so we can run on pathways the whole way 4) Extensive mapping and signage of our bush tracks without destroying the natural environment of the trail Please fill in the community survey with any ideas you have to help us get the parkrun and running message across. https://www.yoursaywingecarribee.com.au/walking-tracks
