25.01.2022 We always love getting cuddles from baby wombats at BVH. This little man had developed a cough while he was in care. After a quick set of xrays, and lots of cuddles from the nurses, he is back with the skilled hands of Wildlife Rescue South Coast.

24.01.2022 Recently we had a very cute little Ringtail possum brought into the clinic by a client that had found it in a cut down tree. The possum was unharmed so after a healthy feed of roses courtesy of the Bowral Veterinary Hospital garden, the possum was sent to a wildlife carer and was released shortly afterwards. We thought this video was very sweet!

19.01.2022 As part of our Covid-19 precautions, Bowral Vets are now requesting all clients to wear a facemask when entering the clinic. We will have a small supply for those that do not yet have a mask but we are requesting people to bring their own if at all possible. These fun masks were kindly made by a lovely Bowral Vets supporter. They certainly brighten up our uniform!

18.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder to look after your pets in the heat today. Try to keep them inside in the cool and make sure they have plenty of access to water to avoid heat stroke. Old pets, overweight pets, small pets such as rabbits and brachycephalic breeds (short nosed breeds) will be more at risk.

16.01.2022 Bowral Vets are currently caring for the cats of the Wingecarribee Animal Shelter whilst they are out of action due to fire near their premises. Of these cats we have 4 available for adoption (see photographs below). All of these cats have wonderful personalities and would make fabulous additions to the family. We have also had an increased demand for newspaper whilst these cats are in our care and would appreciate any donations of old newspapers. If you would like to make a time to meet any of these cats please contact Bowral Veterinary Hospital on 4861 1444.

15.01.2022 Meet Mariano! Mariano has recently joined the team at Bowral Vet Hospital. Mariano was born and raised in Argentina and completed his veterinary studies in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2014. He then worked as a large animal reproduction vet in Uruguay for 1 year. Following this he started a masters degree in rural economic developments and worked with rural communities in Buenos Aires to improve animal health and farm production. In 2018 Mariano decided to travel the world and ...ended up in Australia at the start of this year. Whilst working on a horse property in Victoria, Mariano met Dr Grant and was convinced to make the move to Bowral to experience small animal practice. Mariano has since been working at the Bowral Vets as a veterinary assistant and plans to sit the veterinary exams in Australia next year so that he can work as a vet in Australia. See more

11.01.2022 Dental disease can have a major impact on your pets overall health and a large proportion of pets are suffering from at least some degree of dental disease. Regular dental care and check ups are important to keep your pets teeth healthy. Bowral Vets now offer dental x-rays to help better care for your pets dental health. These allow us to identify any problems going on under the gums that we may not be able to see externally. If you think your pet is in need of some dental care, contact reception on 4861 1444 to make an appointment for a dental check up. And remember, doggy breath is not normal!

04.01.2022 The NSW Government is introducing annual permits for non-desexed cats and restricted and dangerous dogs as part of its commitment to promoting responsible pet ownership and improving animal welfare standards. From 1 July 2020 owners of cats not desexed by four months of age will be required to pay an $80 annual permit in addition to their one-off lifetime pet registration fee. 03.01.2022 Bowral Vets has formed a social netball team on Thursday nights and what we lack in skill we make up in spirit. Each week we are supported by our team mascot Keith Conway (kelpie) who is very vocal and loves to cheer us on.

02.01.2022 As spring is here, a reminder for everyone to watch out for snakes. We have recently seen a few snake bite cases at our hospital. Remember to keep the grass short, clean up any woodpiles or areas of debris, especially if it is close the house. If you do see a snake, keep your pets away from them and leave the snake alone. It is more scared of us than you are!
