24.01.2022 This coming Sunday morning the Cronulla line celebrates its 80th birthday. Vintage single deck set F1 will be paying a visit during the cake-cutting ceremony. Details below...

24.01.2022 Our recent stocktake revealed that we are running low on stock of The Leeds Forge Cars. It’s still available by mail order and our regular retail outlets, including the ARHS Bookshop, but once it’s gone, it’s gone! If you don’t have The Leeds Forge Cars on your bookshelf, now is the time!

24.01.2022 Single Deckers from Newcastle, Walsh Island Cars Vol.1 is also reaching very low stock. It’s available at our normal retailers and by mail order, but again, once it’s gone, it’s gone (we will not be reprinting any titles). Get your copy today!

22.01.2022 Post-war single deck Tulloch suburban T4668, complete with faded Non-Smoking signs, has been revisited by one of our scribes at Lightning Ridge. This car retained its brown and cream interior up to withdrawal. Currently, T4668 appears abandoned.

08.01.2022 ** OUR NEXT BOOK ** It’s been quite a while since we’ve posted an update on happenings around Bow River, and recent developments make it high time we did so! We have made a start on our next book, Single Deckers From Newcastle Vol.3, the cars built at Walsh Island Dockyard. This will cover the following cars: * Parcel vans C3901-3903 (later 3551-3553)... * Trailer cars T4301-4548 (with separate chapters for the three respective contracts T4301-4400, 4401-4500 and 4501-4548); images of representatives from each contract will be covered. * Driving trailer conversions D4051-4056 (later D4672-4674) If anyone has photos of these cars in service or withdrawn from service, we’d love to hear from you. We don’t expect this book to be finished for at least another 18 months or so, so please be patient! Furthermore, we have decided that this will be our final book in the series of Sydney Suburban Standards and single deckers in general. After its release we’ll be moving on to other topics. As for our current titles, we at Bow River are down to our last dozen or so copies of The Leeds Forge Cars and Walsh Island Cars Vol.1. So if you want to grab a copy or two for Christmas, be quick! Once they’re sold out, that’s it; there will be NO reprints. Our friendly retailers still have limited copies of our three titles in stock, and will greatly appreciate your custom: * ARHS Railway Bookshop * Casula Hobbies * Bergs Hobbies * Sydney Tramway Museum * Sydney Bus Museum Until then... Roy Howarth (co-author)

05.01.2022 One of our friendly scribes recently uncovered C7523 up near Lightning Ridge, a car that was elusive from our search & rescue team for many years! Thankfully it looks to be in relatively good condition. The interior pic on the right shows 7523 still in regular CityRail service ca.1991.

03.01.2022 Museum station has had several heritage style ads fitted to both platforms recently. Two Mark Foy’s billboards are original metal signs, recently uncovered during conservation works and now preserved under glass. Well worth a look next time you’re in the city.

03.01.2022 Another post-war Tulloch suburban, T4604 with Beclawat windows, in its current home up near the ‘Ridge. The retrofitted window surrounds didn’t seem to hold the paint very well.

02.01.2022 Our books are on sale at the AMRA Model Railway Expo at Olympic Park this long weekend. Visit the Trains for Kids with Cancer fundraising stall, our books are helping to support a great cause.
