In this video, our cellist d'Artagnan takes us through the steps to ensuring you are in the correct playing position (playing in the wrong position may lead to playing the wrong size cello), before outlining a few simple measures to finding the correct size of instrument. 13.01.2022 'Does my child need a bigger instrument this year?' A topic that we are frequently asked about at the start of each school year is sizing - particularly from parents of growing players! To help you prepare for the year ahead, we have put together this short video guide for checking the size of your violin or viola (cellists, look out for our cello video coming soon!).... Find out more about the sizing process here: https://bowsforstrings.com//how-to-know-if-your-child-is-p
08.01.2022 In our latest Brand Spotlight video Myles is discussing the Jay Haide range of violins, which are aimed at intermediate to advanced students and players. Myles plays through the three models of violin from Jay Haide and and discusses their attributes and differences.
03.01.2022 'If a bow with no rosin plays a violin in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?' Answer: Probably not (but only because rosin is what creates friction between the hair of your bow and your strings; which is what causes the strings to vibrate and make sound). In this short video Myles demonstrates how to apply rosin to a brand new bow (and what a new bow without rosin sounds like), and provides a basic guide to follow as to how much rosin you should... apply once you have started using your bow.
