18.01.2022 Customer Satisfaction Every customer service survey form I complete asks me if I was satisfied with the service I received, usually on a range from unsatisfied to highly satisfied. My answer is almost always positive because any business should be, and generally is, able to satisfy its customers. Otherwise, it couldn't stay in business. Customer Devotion Should Be the New Satisfaction what is missing though, is the emotional component how you make your customers feel. I...f you can create an emotional tie between your business and your customers, they will come back. And they will do it, not because you satisfied them like everyone else or you happened to be most convenient or offered the best deal. They will come back because you are now on a separate list in their mind from your competition. I call this creating customer devotion. Not only do devoted customers come back, they are more likely to recommend your business to others. Of course, we will always be interested in knowing whether our customers are satisfied. But the danger of continuing to emphasize satisfaction as your ultimate goal and being happy with high satisfaction ratings is you won’t delve into the needs that truly motivate your customers and can make them devoted. And you won't train your team to meet these needs. So isn’t it time to retire satisfaction and look at it as only the minimum for performance not the ultimate goal? See more
