19.01.2022 Moussa’s Market Update Fruit this week abounds. Moussa has some great bargains. Kids will love the Afourer Mandarins. 19.01.2022 New produce: Curly Endive How about some curly endive? Curly what? Curly Endive is popular with people from the Mediterranean and at least in Sydney almost exclusively grown by Maltese growers (like Steve Grima in Horsley Park see pic below).... What does it taste like? Curly endive has a characteristically sharp, bitter flavor which greatly enhances green salads so long as you use it as part of the mix. You can also cook it for a couple of minutes - until wilted - in some olive oil with garlic, crunchy bacon and balsamic vinegar. Top with egg. #boxdivvy #CommunityFoodHub #LoveLocal #lanecove #lanecovenorth #supportfarmers #supportlocal #freshproduce #unsupermarket

18.01.2022 Gotta LOVE your Valencias Did you know??? Valencia oranges were created in (get this) California, US back in the 1800’s. OK, so not really in Valencia. The original grower called them Valencias in honour of the fact that Spain at the time was the centre of the citrus world. Nowadays most Valencias are grown in Florida and Australia! ... Valencias are the only citrus variety grown over summer. When they get a lot of sun, their skin develops a green hue by way of sunscreen protection that makes them appear unripe but in fact, the greener they are, the more sun they’ve had and the sweeter they’ll be.

12.01.2022 If you are a lover of a garlic....Australian-grown garlic now under $20 As supply of local garlic picks up, prices are dropping rapidly. We’re expecting white garlic from the Murray region next week. It is expected to sell for around $19/Kg. 10.01.2022 FRIDAY UPDATE Asparagus are ON for this week, and theyre going to be better than some of the ones we had last week. Still under $3 a bunch Rockmelons are back: they eat well and will be around $2.50 each for small to medium-sized fruit... Red capsicums are expected to spike a little for the next few weeks: work on $4.50/kg (still half price compared with Woolies) Mushroom supply has improved, and prices should ease to around $13/kg Lebanese cucumbers have eased back further: expect to pay no more than $4.30/Kg and they will be glamour Finally, leeks have been creeping up in price but weve managed to source some local supply from Sam and Steve Grima in Horsley Park - $1.40 each BEST VALUE THIS WEEK: Fruit - Pink lady apples, berries, any citrus, especially blood oranges Vege: from snowpeas, corn, zucchini, lebanese cucumbers

10.01.2022 The star of this week's starting order - Romanesco cauliflower. Stunning! How should you cook and store the Romanesco cauliflower? They like a dry closed environment so into a green bag into the fridge but don’t let it get moist so if your fridge tends to get wet wrap in a paper towel and then into a bag.... If you want to keep the colour then blanch in hot water and straight into an ice bath. A video for trimming and preparing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4vQXEWVG0g A quick way to prep is break into florets, into the pan with some olive oil and a heap of garlic. Saute. #boxdivvy #unsupermarket #supportlocal #supportfarmers #lanecove #lanecovenort #lanecovewest
