24.01.2022 Fruit news Menindee grapes are back. They are still a little pricey, around $12-$13 per kg, but give it a few weeks and they’ll be below $10.00 New season plums, aptly named Earliqueens.... They’re early indeed, and whilst as a rule we don’t touch plums until close to Christmas, we do make exceptions from time to time and this Earliqueen is worth it. Peaches are still not available, so why not try Nectarines at under $4.00 kg.

12.01.2022 Ginger update Last year’s drought has made ginger scarce and about double the normal price. Luckily, we are just getting hold of new season fresh ginger from north Queensland. It hasn’t been cured or dried, and has a milder flavour than dried ginger. The other big difference is its price: with dried ginger selling around $40-50/Kg, the fresh ginger is literally half- price: $24/Kg. Keep in the fridge in a sealed container.

12.01.2022 Box Divvy produce comes in all shapes and sizes. This is a nectarine that we received in Tuesday's box. The side on photo looks like a snail to me. Can you see it too?

07.01.2022 Tomato news Something new! Baby roma truss tomatoes! Grown in Clybucca, north of Port Macquarie, we hear they are even sweeter than regular truss tomatoes! But any tomato is good value at the moment...

04.01.2022 Fruit news this week We are still waiting for the price of mangoes and cherries to come down, and blueberries have temporarily tightened up. But in the meantime, you could try some blackberries Meanwhile, our regular strawberry grower near Monbulk in Vic is taking a break in between patches which gives us a chance to try out some of the more premium berries. They’re extra large, super-sweet and should be around $3.40 per punnet. ... Lychees, they are only just starting, but they pack a punch. Still $23/Kg, but they will drop in the lead-up to Christmas.
